Um I know these are really weird, but thought I would share them anyway. DH comments that my hair looks crazy when I'm on the bed. I always have my hair in a hair stick bun so when I lay down, I take the hair stick out and end up flipping my hair over the pillows. Apparently this is what it looks like!

I just found this photo from the start of 2010, 1 year before my hair modelling disaster. My goal is for my hair to be this length (a bit past BSL) all over by June, also hope to get it back to being at least that healthy (even though i was using heat on it back then it didn't have the bleach damage it does now)

I feel ya on that color distortion thing. My phone camera on its own makes my hair look way more cool-toned than it really is. And then my bathroom light (the best place to take pictures myself) makes my hair way more *warm* than it really is... I swear, my hair is like an ordinary, mid-range dark brown, maybe a little on the warm side. But in photos it always looks so very different.

Here's my attempt today at cocoon curls. They look really nice here. However, when I went to try to gently brush each curl section into a softer curl, I got horrible tangled messes at the ends of each section. Took me 15 minutes to get un-tangled with my Tangle Teezer and because I felt so bad, I smothered my hair in Jojoba oil and put it back up in a safe bun. =/
Anyone have any ideas on how to not get the ends all tangly like that? Because I really like how these looked...curls like that are like dreamy to me with my pin straight hair. Plus they fluff i hair out to look like there's more!

Beautiful curls! For the tangles, I wouldn't brush curls like that, ever! use a wide-tooth comb at most, preferably finger-comb if you have to. I think it turned into a mess especially because the curls were quite tight, so you might have more success with looser curls :)

That's so sweet of you, thank you so much! :D My dress is from Windsor.
For the bottom, longest layers of my hair, I used a fairly thick curling wand, probably about 2 inches thick. For the top canopy layers of my hair, I used a wand that was a bit thinner, probably around .5 inches. Then I just curled my bangs off to the side with the smaller wand. :) In terms of products, I used my Redken heat protectant (which has cones in it, but my hair doesn't really mind for some reason) and just a little hairspray, some generic brand, nothing fancy. I always spray the strand I'm curling with hairspray before I curl it, though; my hair holds the curl better when I do that. :D

I'll try to explain it :)

-Inserted my stick between my fingers, through the center of the loop of hair, caught the scalp hair, and guided it out of the loop around my thumb by pointing the end of the stick into the end of my thumb

I hope you can follow that!! I saw it on youtube once, but I don't remember the name of the bun!

CousinItt, Sometimes my hair will allow me to do a Gibson and sometimes not. Mostly not. Yesterday was a co-operative day I guess. Mostly the hair just falls straight through the bottom and won't "tuck" at all.

I think there is a Youtube video somewhere which explains how to do a Gibson Tuck, FrannyG has one for longer hair, hers is the method I used.

Was playing around with my hair and my camera - as you do - and came up with this which I thought showed my waves nicely and had just used a French anti frizz serum which seems to work really well. Shame the lighting was bad. Can I get it to look the same today? Nope...

And my hair colour has not changed, just the difference in lighting, amazing really what a difference lighting makes to hair colour.

There is one more view from this same set posted elsewhere on the boards. I just don't get that many good hair photos, especially since I rarely take out the two bulkier cameras that have remotes...arranging nice hair pictures in 10 seconds is a pain, and usually doesn't happen out on the trails.

Hahahah mine has been growing his for a while, his is light brown which looks a bit blond in sunlight, and pretty thick too (am I the only one who thinks men have thicker hair than most women -.-U)...It grows much faster than mine and is around what would be BSL on me, not sure how to call it on men hahah.

Regarding the colour, see, about two years ago I used to dye my hair with box dye, to a redish colour. I stopped and dyed it all black, then it washed out to a light brown/a bit coppery color.
I wore it like that for about a year and a half and then this past December I bought Manic Panic vampire red and put it on my whole hair. The parts that had been dyed previously got a pretty intense red, while my virgin hair took a burgundy colour (see the colour from my shoulder and up).

Of course I would love to have the lighter colour on the whole head, but I'm trying to avoid damage and being my hair really fine I think I'd rather have the more subtile version of it than damage...
so basically, to answer your question, Manic Panic Vampire Red :p. The lighter the hair the more noticeable the result would be. My natural hair is dark brown and looks burgundy/purpleish after dye. I think I'll keep doind it as it keeps groing because even the tint it gives to it looks better than my natural boring colour :rolleyes:

I didn't realise before, but you can see where the balcony railings blocked the sunlight. Looks like a very sharp demarcation line, heh!

These are Hair/Sweater pictures. They show my hair length, and also this fabulous sweater I got off Etsy, it's from www.etsy.com/shop/sluagh (I am not affiliated, just impressed) and I love the way the color sets off my hair. I wore it for the first time yesterday and got a lot of wows for the sweater but also twice as many ostensibly sweater unrelated hair wows. I don't have it on in the pic but the sweater has a long twirly end hood to protect hair, you can put your hair/braid in it. You can see it hanging down in the first pic. My hair looked better yesterday. But this is my hair a little past waist.
