I love all your pictures! Been going through this thread a bit and am definitely jealous!

I just had my hair cut today so it's a lot shorter than it was (but healthier). Committed to trying to maintain my ends and grow it back to its previous length again.

Here's a few pics of it yesterday before the cut:

and here's one just now.

I miss the old length. Ah well, I'll get there again!

I really need to learn to not touch my hair. It's almost like a reflex to comb it out after it's dried (wet combing turns it pin straight) even though there's no tangles to speak of!

You actually won't be able to upload to any albums here until you hit 25 posts. You can, however, upload to Imgur or photobucket or one of those sights and embed the link in a post.

bumping this thread up! I haven;t posted any pictures because I'm usually a perfectionist but part of growing out my hair is accepting that it has a mind of its own and I should accept it as it grows as out of my head, so please excuse the frizz! My canopy/outer layers are also way looser than I expected- compared to the ringlets underneath.

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/60490920/other/hair%201.jpg

This was just a few hours after a wash, with oiled, air-dried hair around a month ago with a reaaally quick cheese piece because its almost midnight here and I shouldn't be up so late :p

----

Wispe! Is is just me or does your hair grow fairly fast? :0 I think I've seen you a couple of months ago in the growing out bleach or dye thread? My memory is pretty sketchy but I was surprised when I saw your hair go past the limits of the picture here! I've always admired your hair color as well and those temple wavies are adorable :)

Kiiruna- That's a lovely gradient :) some of my ends are taking a red hue so I'm crossing my fingers for a gradient like that in the future.

Your curl is beautiful! just wow!

Yep I'm in the growing out bleach thread. I'm a little over 6 months growing out; from measuring my roots it seems I have a pretty average growth rate (I have no idea if my hair will stall or spurt throughout the years; pretty steady so far). I'm at waist length now; but I'm short and my arms don't reach far so it's getting hard to get the whole length in a selfie now (I am, ecstatic about it. yay!). I love the temple wavies but they sure don't like to behave like the rest of my hair! The rest is a lazy 1c wave LOL

I love your hair colour, wispe! It's like soft cotton candy :crush:

The same happens to me, Kiiruna. My ends are much blonder and quite distinct against my roots.

Mimha I am in LOVE! (sorry if that sounds creepy XD) Your hemline is just the most stunning thing! Is that your natural texture?

Lol, thank you PixieP ! Yes, it is my totally natural texture. Depending on the day, it looks more or less wavy and more or less voluminous. It evolves in the full 2 range, from 2c when super wavy to 2a after several days of tight bunning. This picture has been taken right after my hair was dry, on a wash day, so it is much more voluminous than a few days later. I trim my hemline in such a way that it optimizes the optical volume effect. But I admit that I have never had such a hemline in my life before, except maybe when I was in my healthy twenties... I have to take a lot of food complements because I suffer from a lot of deficiencies in oligo-elements due to poor intestinal absorption. I have probably been suffering from it since my early thirties (I'm 52 now). So now that my hair finally looks like what it should always have been looking, it is a very good present of life ! :)

Mimha, your hair is just perfection! I wish it was my hair :) :crush:

My first LHC photo / length photo :-). Taken this morning, day after washing, immediately after brushing with my TT (it would not look that smooth and untangled otherwise!). I'm liking how it looks generally, but what the flying flip is going on with that hemline?! It was professionally trimmed less than a month ago, and she got it perfectly even (except maybe the broken bit, as I wouldn't let her take the length needed to cut up to that - that lock always breaks and I haven't figured out why yet). I think I'll go over to self-trimming from now on, I don't see the point in paying money, if my hair can't respect the cut for more than a week or two (yes, I am talking to you, racers on the left).

ETA: sorry for the size of photo - it was resized down, but I obviously didn't get it small enough!

Thank you. I'm just going to ignore the hemline for now and wear it up a lot. My hands are at about the top of hip / bottom of waist there, so it needs to get a good half way there before it gets another decent trim - I feel like I've been between shoulder and BSL for years...

edited for spelling.

Today my hair is in this style, basically a simplified version of the Edwardian "Newport" style. It's a french twist with the remaining length at the top formed into a bun. I was testing it today to see if I should wear it for a skit I'm doing in a history class later this week. :)

It's hard to tell from pics, but I see almost blueish black with my normal screen settings and black with nightime mode (orange-hue) :D But I guess that's just because of the light, but yeah, I'd call your hair black. If I imagine it without the blue light reflection, I guess a soft black colour

PixieP
February 6th, 2017, 10:04 AM
Beautiful updo! (And you are stunning!)

In those photos I would call it black. To me the difference between dark brown and black is the highlight colour. In these photos your hair has a cold sheen which makes me think black. A warner sheen makes it dark brown. But that's just my take on it! The line between dark brown and black is even more difficult than the line between blonde and brown!

PixieP
February 6th, 2017, 10:06 AM

I'm sorry if this turns out huge!

We had picture day at work for our photos. I hate having my picture taken with a passion - I'm very self conscious about my teeth. The photographer was actually a colleague, so he knows me quite well. So after two or three klonky pics he said: just take out your bun and show off your mane!

I've never been this happy with a picture before :-)

Wow so much gorgeous hair!!! 😍
This pic is freshly washed hair on the left, and then 3 days later on the right. I never would've guessed this was possible, but the longer it gets, the more I actually prefer 3rd-5th day hair, over freshly washed! It relaxes so it looks longer, and it clumps together more. I've only ever had pixie to shoulder length, and it only ever looked good on wash day. I'm already experiencing the 'lower maintenance when long' thing. (Also color on the right is accurate, left looks inexplicably reddish.) http://i.imgur.com/cAm0uLf.jpg

I had forgotten about counting braid bumps. I do know that my braid is now fully waist length. It used to be APL. Can't believe it's at almost hip loose and curly. I don't remember what I thought it would look like so I can't compare the reality to my vision. I guess I've basically practiced benign neglect for a while.

Yep it's a bee butt bun :) I make it like that on purpose for sleeping, holding it with a 2-prong over the hawaiian moon-fork, stays put beautifully, doesn't pull anywhere, and I can switch around the position so I don't stress the same point every night. But the little decorative palm tree-part sticky-uppy on the top is not normal XD

I was trying to post a photograph like the rest of you but I couldn't figure out how to resize it, so a link will have to do (would appreciate some help, I haven't been on a forum/used bbcode in yonks)! This is how long it is today (22" for APL), and I'm hoping to be below BSL by the end of the year – and I might go back to a (more) natural colour, too! I think giving up the silver and bleaching is going to be somewhat necessary in the quest for classic!

However, bad as it is, I'm still bleaching the roots, and it's dyed grey – I'm longing for somebody to tell me that I can still get long, lovely hair despite colouring it. My hair seems to take an AGE to grow, I've only trimmed it twice since I had it cut, but the roots seem to grow out very slowly.

Is there anyone that does have very long, and coloured (bleached?) hair?

Personally because I have been dying is blonde for yeaaars, then I moved onto platinum, and I think every single person that does have platinum or white hair can always see a brassiness that isn't there! The grey/silver got rid of that hahaha. Plus, it's a colour that still allows for shine, and the dye itself (not including the bleach of course) is conditioning!

It's also been a trend for a while, yes, as the others have said - though I actually don't see it very often! Now I get to dye it grey and let it fade out to a silver in my laziness and still look bang on 😂😂

I had the most amazing bun waves yesterday! I just wish I could make them stay! (They stretch out to barely there within an hour). Sorry for the bad pictures, husband was at work so I had to try to take them myself :P

Beautiful!!! Your hair are what I dream mine to be when it grows, as I have a similar texture. Have you shared anywhere your routine?

Aw thank you! my routine for the past few years has been this: Cowash once or twice a week and then use a silicone free conditioner, afterwards I use a gel and thick leave in conditioner. On the days I don't cowash but still shower I rinse my scalp and apply conditioner from my ears down. Even if I stretch washes it is vital I still get in the shower and detangle with conditioner every other day or else I will get crazy knots that lead to breakage. I use a non sulfate shampoo once a month, and sulfates are okay if I only use them every 3 or 4 months. I never use silicones because I feel like they just make my hair more fragile. I know they're supposed to be good for damaged hair, but when I use them I feel like they weaken my white dots.

And also, I try to use a DT once every week or two.
Hope that helped!

Your color is gorgeous PixieP!

Thank you!

PixieP I can't help but see Jessica Rabbit when I look at that photo. What kind of bun creates such nice curls? My buns fail to give such results. :D

Aww thanks! I sleep with a cinnabun/bee's butt bun topknot (it varies with how slippery my hair is how tight it gets) and that's what gives these waves :) but my hair is difficult though so I just get this look like maybe 1 night out of 10 XD and as I said it doesn't last long in my hair either :( but I enjoy it while it's there :D

:thud: so pretty!!

Thank you hon! That means extra coming from you :flower:

Thank you! yes it was very helpful. Btw I had just opened a thread asking for suggestions on how to detangle my hair between washes, I could try your method.

3 things. I have recently learnt how to do a LWB. I love it, it's pretty much my go-to now. I have also been blessed with a gift of several forks and sticks hand made by Ms. bparnell75! They are gorgeous and amazing, you'll see more pics of these as time goes on!

And last, bparnell75 didn't ask for anything in return for the hair toys. I feel out of balance if I get something without giving something in return. The paper she had written her letter to me on had the St. Jude's Children's research hospital logo on it, and St. Jude is my patron saint, so my course of action feels only natural.

I got my hair bead from Etsy in the mail today. :) I think it'll pretty things up when I wear my hair down but with my "fringe" French braided.

Zesty-- Mine's somewhere between 1c/2a, I think-- not sure which yet! My goal is waist-- I've never, ever been that long, and it would be a cool change :) I've always been scissor-happy though (I've always solved hair irritation by chopping it to shoulder or above), so my resolve must stay strong!

Yesterday I got taken by surprise by my hair texture. I did a prewash oiling, shampoo, condition and after rinsing added a couple spritzes of leave in plus a few drops of oil. Then let it airdry without touching it. Until now I've noticed mainly some bumps/very loose s-waves in my natural hair texture but yesterday there were clear tighter braidlike waves amongst the bumps. :D Kind of digging it.

Let's go back a few years, I can show you how my hair *used* to be. These are still-shots from the video they took the day I had my nose pierced. Sitting down waiting for the needle, and checking in the mirror that the violet mark was in the correct place where I wanted the piercing. I never measured my hair back then, what was this? Tail bone? Classic? I can't remember where it ended when I was standing.
About 4 years ago I made a donation to Locks Of Love (I know, I know. I know *now*. I didn't know *then.*) The chop from the donation left my hair at a length about half way between the 2nd and 3rd scrunchies down. With layers of course, because the stylist said it would make my hair look thicker.
There have been several "trims" since then that cost me 2-3" each time. So what you see on me now isn't purely 4 years of growth. There were set backs. And I'm still going to have to grow out the layers.
But anyway, here is my hair from when it was at its longest. And I will never again give in to people pressuring me to donate it. I love it and I want to keep it. I want this length again at a MINIMUM.

Because they sell the wigs instead of donating them.

And thank you. :) I really wish I had been paying attention then. I can't even remember what shampoo and conditioner I was using or how often I was washing.

That, plus the existence of a "donation" option seems to embolden people into suggesting we donate our hair. Complete strangers, sometimes. Some people go too far and suggest that we're being selfish for not donating. Like we're standing in the way of a cure, or something.
