Lazy wrap bun. I am practicing this one. They always seem to fall out for me.

They sometimes fall out on me, too. I have almost enough hair to braid it first, and that helps. (But then, I have to use a hairtie at the end, and defeat the purpose of bunning in the first place! :justy:
Dirty hair, or some sticky product help sometimes, too. If all else fails, revert to the disc bun. It holds even in my slippery hair!

Yesterday I wore another lazy wrap bun. Today I need to bun it again, and the LWB is fast and easy, but maybe I should broaden my horizons since we are on vacation. If it wasn't so windy here I would not bun it at all. I would wear it loose, but I can't allow it to get tangled even on vacation. hmmm... maybe another pha bun. Wow, really stepping out, right?

My style changed a couple times today.

I started off with a nautilus bun held by one of my Ead sticks and had it like that while I ran some errands. Then I wanted to practice french braiding and took it down. I did a decent french braid on the first try so I left it like that for a while. After a couple hours, I oiled my hair and put it in a cinnabun until I showered.

Saturday: rope braid. It shredded quite a bit--lots of layers.

Yesterday: French roll for church.

Today: don't know yet!

ETA: figured out today's: Dutch braid with scarf paranda.

(FWIW: I had trouble with my hair a few days ago. It was slightly damp and grippier than normal. LWB-fail, disc bun-fail, French/dutch/English braid-fail.... rope braid - moderate success! I think I fooled with it 20 minutes, before it came around to my way of thinking! :justy: )

3rd day hair (kinda feeling gross... tonight it will be washed... but the sebum is really helping to hold my braid nicely), I have my bangs in an accent braid and it is wrapped around a very simple cinnabun, but since there is an accent braid it looks a lot more fancy than it really is. I am thinking the bangs in an accent braid are the way to make peace with the grow-out of my bangs. I have been in a really miserable place with them lately, and have been considering some sort of a cut to help blend them. I was thinking a face-frame would do the trick, but then I will have shorter hairs popping out all down my length for a long time! Glad I didn't cut, and that the lovely Torrin Page gave me some much-needed help on Facebook.

Neecola
July 29th, 2014, 12:30 PM
LauraLL, I like the idea of the bangs accent braid and though I don't have "bangs", I might do a braided side part as a wrap for a bun. Cute idea!

I am wearing triple cinnabuns today.

July 29th, 2014, 12:44 PM
Neecola, it is a nice way to give some variation, bangs or no bangs. How do you place your three cinnabuns? Are they all in a row up and down, or clustered together on the side, or what?

Neecola
July 29th, 2014, 01:13 PM
They are clustered together, like a clover. I like it because the bottom two buns are slightly on the sides of the center top bun which means they are visible from the front.

I love side buns, but never thought about doing side triple buns! *adds to list*

Dutch braid made into a folded braid. I started my braid up really high on top of my head and was able to get my bangs into it. Really nice to have those bangs off my forehead.
Thankfully, it laid flat enough that it didn't give me the mohawk look on top. Pic is clickable.

amino
August 1st, 2014, 09:50 AM
Neecola, oooh, that's pretty!

For a clickable image:

[*URL="LINK TEXT HERE"][*IMG]IMG URL HERE[/IMG]

Stick your URL in where "LINK TEXT HERE" is... keep the quote marks! Stick IMG's URL where it says IMG URL HERE, make sure you don't delete any of the brackets. When you're done, delete the *s.

Alternately... insert a picture as you normally would (by clicking the button), then highlight the whole [*IMG] thingamajig, and click the URL button, then input your link's URL.
Result: (old picture)

Today, up with a fork in my usual nautilus hybrid.

But yesterday, yesterday wore it down for the first time in about 6 months. I bunned most of it up in the morning in a bun that leaves no bun waves, and curled my thin ends (the last 6 to 8 inches) in 2 blue foam tubes. It was beautiful. And felt so long. It brought the length back up to BCL but it felt so long. I am going to do it occasionally when I want to wear my hair down for a special event. Wearing it down after drying or after bun drop isn't as notable due to thinning ends, but the curls mask them and make the ends look so much thicker.

Was in a loose scrunchie bun, then I decided I ought to get better at my braids, so it's in a really lopsided crown braid (I was never able to do those). I also figured out how to actually do a crownbraid, since when I was 14 and actually had long hair, I could never do it. The secret is to keep my head upside down... the only problem is, I'm not sure how to make certain I get the proper hair placement.

Congratulations! ;) Pencils are perfect hair toys in my opinion. Hold much better than the plastic Claire's sticks, for example. I eventually cut chop sticks in half, painted/oiled them and they're doing a fine job as well.

Let's see... today for my run it was in a braided cinnabun. After my shower I had it down to dry. Then I put it up in a french twist, but the weight of my hair pulling on my pins was hurting my head. I think I may have to let the french twist go for a while because the way I have been doing it is no longer comfortable. I'll have to find a new way. I can't seem to master the log roll, which is a good alternative to the french twist. So then it was down again for a while. Now it's up in a regular cinnabun.

I didn't know how I should call it otherwise . I just twist my hair (you know, like you would do a cinnabun) and then do a LWB. Instead of putting my stick between my fingers at the end (like this (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TTt771qkO24)video at 0:40) I just pull the loop to the side. Super cute, BES!

Yesteday I had a wedding and wore my hair in a gibson tuck. I parted my hair on the side and did a lace braid on the thickest side and a twist on the other before doing the tuck as LaDollyVita shows here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8r5RO29BKbI). Browneyedsusan, I remember you saying before that your hair started poking through the tuck as it got longer. She's got some tips in the video for that.

My MIL thought I had my hair professionally done! Sweet!

Today my hair is in a side pin curl bun.

The day before yesterday I wore it in a nautilis with a cute mini fork my hubby made

I'll give the tips a try. Last time, I rolled the ends up in a giant pincurl thing, and they stayed in pretty good.

------------

French braided with an oblong scarf faux-paranda. I English braided the top, and tied the scarf around the elastic. Then worked the ends of the scarf and braid into a French braid down the back. The scarf ends at waist, and is very light. :) --That came out wrong. I do not look "light". I'm wearing a black Aerosmith T-shirt and leggings. The scarf is black and brown. I look like a child of the night. 8)

Twisted disc bun and after rough housing with my toddler I redid it into a LWB

A sort of coronet braid but done a little sneakily:

Lace braided from right ear around head to left ear, then remainder dutch braided (a single plait I mean) and wound around my head. Holds like a rock and really comfy!

Madora, that's a great way of doing a coronet! I can't do a proper coronet, it always ends up lopsided or I run out of hair before I'm don, but I've got to try this, it seems far more manageable than the real thing ;)

I'm wearing a braid wound around the head today.

It's actually still in the two braids that I did to sleep in last night - the reason for this is - my Tangle Teezer is supposed to come in the mail today and I want to see if it *really* works - what better way than messy-slept-in braids?

Mine is in my regular 'do, a single plait.
(I know everyone here says braids but its always been a plait to me!)

I did a fancy side bun for a wedding. I pin curled the top half and then bobby pinned the pieces to my scalp and around the bun. Now, its down after washing and I will do two dutch braids for bed.

Faux messy bun done with a sock tube thingy...it's coming down shortly though due to it hurting my scalp.
