In my sleep braid from last night. I didn't get to WO my hair cause I was way too tired. Hopefully it will get done sometime today, cause I don't have to leave the house. I'm having a heck of a time braiding my hair though, I can never get it to stay straight. Its always looking crooked and looks like it is twisted.

Washed, blow-dry 3 minutes to roots, then a nautilus bun with my Graydog double-ended bunholder. I think I torqued it too tight because when I took it down a few minutes ago, I had a nice sore spot on my scalp.

Ouch. :(

Up, oiled like a grease ball, and in a cinnabun with my good ol' trusty knitting needle. It looks like a hair stick though, so I can totally get away with this whole using a knitting needle thing. I really should start investing in some actual hair toys though hehe.

It's up in a really high cinnamon bun with a lot of fullness all around the sides and back. I love the look, but I'm not sure if I'll actually leave for work like this. I feel rather old-fashioned, like a lady in a Victorian photograph. Maybe I should post pics and ask opinions?

Yes, do post pics Joyfulmom! :)

I will. I didn't have time before work and now I'm at work, but when I get home again, I'll try to get a good pic. I kept the hair up and the bun settled a little smidge lower, which was perfect. I think I have found my solution to creating a less harsh and more flattering look for my updos. The pulled-back-tight look with hair drawn toward the nape was too severe with my facial features which are somewhat angular. This softer updo also creates lots of gentle wisps to frame my face. I'm liking this!

Oh, and I have my new KETYLOS in too. Love them! I can't wait to show those off either.

I re-created the "Spanish Lady" style from dressytresses.com but instead of leaving the long ponytail down the back, I twisted the pony into a bee-butt bun. I like it. Bee butt buns always bother me though b/c mine rub on the back of my neck and collar and get all scruffy-looking in a hurry.

Updating with daily do #4 (so far). Started w/ infinity bun. No good. Flopped after a couple hours. Next was an attempt at a four strand rope-braided bun. Very bad. Didn't last an hour. A brief repeat attempt at the infinity bun lasted all of ten minutes.

Now it's in a two-strand twisted-rope bun. It seems to be holding OK, but my hair fork is giving me a headache, so this may or may not last the day.

I succeeded in styling it, but it's not holding very well. I will have to touch up the front. I was in too much of a hurry before.

I am posting pics later. Took them this am but didn't have time to upload.

What exactly are pin curls? Do they work on hair of any length to get curls? Do you do them wet or dry?

Here is a link: http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip12001.htm

You roll up bits of hair, and secure with bobby pin. Instead of rollers and such. Pin curls is good to sleep in, and isn't as big if you wanna cover your head and go out to shop.
You can also controll the way the curls is laying, wich way they will go, and so on.

Common in the 40's.

Today's style: half-up with 2 side braids and 1 main braid. Side braids are pulled through the middle of the main braid and criss-crossed along the length (like this (http://imaginary-styles.iwarp.com/hair/fotr8.html), but with plain braids)

HotRag, those are great hairsticks!

Right now I'm planning on leaving my hair down once it dries, but if that doesn't work, then I'm throwing it up in a high cinnabun held with one stick. If that doesn't work, then I'm breaking out my usual claw clips to hold the bun :(. I'm getting really tired of those things, but they are quick and reliable.

Dutch braid pigtails that I messed up on one side and wound up correcting the problem by making a pony tail at the nape of my neck and decided I rather like it like this!

Ajoifulnoise, I think the stick is gorgeous! Can you sharpen the end a little by sanding it w/ fine sandpaper? I have done that with a few sticks that had too blunt a tip (and a few that were too sharp also). It's too pretty not to wear it.

I don't think sand paper would help as the end is so, incredibly blunt. It looks like they cut off the tip, to be honest. I've heard a lot of people say their sticks were too pointy. I have the opposite problem. I may consult my dad and see if he can help.

They do make sandpaper for sanding metals. You might have to start with a coarser grade b/c it's so blunt and you have a bit of work to do. Then you could switch to finer grades to polish it smooth.
