At work I wear my new favourite bun: the Nautilus (again). Now I keep my hair in the usual English braid.

A French paranda braid wrapped into a Jamie Leigh bun since I just oiled it yesterday I'll probably just take the bun down later for sleep. That's my favorite part about braided buns, that when you're done for the day you can just take the bun down and have an instant sleep braid. :)

So my mom is going to bring me a couple of fine-toothed combs tomorrow (she's coming over to take me to a doctor's appointment anyway), and I guess I'll try to trim it tomorrow afternoon after the appointment and all.

Oh well. It's waited at least thirteen and a half months; one more day isn't that big a deal. :rolleyes:

I got two compliments, one from a lady from Laos who said that long hair was very much valued in her culture and that it wasn't uncommon for ladies to never cut their hair and to have it at floor length, but that these days they keep it westernised-much-shorter, to help with getting work and to avoid being thought of as country bumpkins. She thought it was sad to not see very long hair any more. She asked me how long I had been growing it for.
The other from the checkout operator who had mid back length hair in a ponytail, who told me she loved my hair. She said that her own hair had previously been at calf length but she had cut it, wanting a change and was now re-growing it long again :) I didn't have time to tell her about the LHC, she might have been interested!

While I was away for the weekend, I wore my hair in pigtail French braids for the drive up, a braided vertical disc bun for the graduation party for my cousin (which I didn't actually manage to attend because I got horribly sick because my body hates me, basically :( ), a single English braid later that day and for sleep, which got redone in the morning and looped up into a messy but braided bun while I was on the beach watching the eclipse (I looped it up so I could go into the ocean without getting too much salt water in my hair), and a right-sided side English braid for the drive back.

Yesterday I was too upset (long story) to remember what I did with it, but I think it was just a loose ponytail held with a scrunchie.

Today, I did a cinnablob held with a scrunchie while I took a bath this morning and then a LWB for my lab work appointment, and the LWB is still in place because I got the tension balance between "tight enough to stay put" and "too tight/painful" so it's comfortable.

The first figure-8 bun I've been able to do in years! I've probably had sufficient length for a while now, but I hadn't tried a figure-8 in several months, and it goes up and stays! :happydance:

As soon as I clean my bathtub, though (which chore I'm about to go do now), it's going to be down for washing and drying.

After that, who knows? :p
