Thanks.. both are nothing spectacular lol

I use the pocket knife I kept from my beloved Dad.
He passed away back in '65 at age 38 (I was a teen); I used it for scouting, camping, and over the years when hiking in the woods. :)

Can I just say that I love everything about this post. Maybe I'm just feeling sentimental because a few day from now will mark 2 years since the loss of my own dad but I really love that you've kept his knife and done such awesome tasks with it. What a great way to remember him.

Anywho, I'm rocking a Gibson tuck today.

Wore my hair down and I was so uncomfortable. I kept thinking about the cold wind and how it would strip the moisture from my ends. All day when I was out I kept making sure my hair wasn't caught on anything or rubbing against my clothes too often. Loose hair in winter is not for me. It's back in a braid where it belongs.

Cinnabun with chopsticks today.

Collin, I had an experience at the store the other day. I met a young man about 10 years old with his hair in a single braid down the back. I offered him a plain chopstick (shortened to about 6 " which I keep with some other emergency toys in my purse). He reached for it without hesitation and then said you kinda do it like this..and he proceeded to put it on top of his head and make motions. I smiled and said, "yes and if you will go on youtube and type in 'man buns'you will see how to do it." He nodded and kept that stick in his hand until I saw him go out the door, all the while he helped his guardian with the bags and cart. I thought to my self, get um started young.

Thank you so much! For redirecting my search and my thoughts. After I wrote the post about cinnamon bun I went to etsy, looking for some other method of securing my bigger cinna bun. (I wanted to buy Amish pins but shipping is 200% of the items.) But instead of switching the accessories, I could change the bun itself!
I have tried the Celtic Knot but not enough for it to become automatic. I still have to think when I do it. But this only means I need more practice with it.
I love the LWB and it's my most often used bun for Flexi8s. But for spin pins, it's too wide to hold. So, for the quickest, simplest bun I will start trying to perfect the Celtic Knot. Thank you once again for this suggestion. Without it, I'd probably be stuck with the cinna bun and looking for new ways of securing it :)

Does Amazon or ebay also charge that much for shipping? There are very reasonable forks and sticks on those sellers as well. You will probably want a fork at some point. If you have that much hair a stick should also work. Don't forget you can make good sticks out of chopsticks. Wooden colored pencils smoothed on the ends with an emery board are also fun sticks. Are there chinese food places in Poland?

***

I first parted my hair on right side, and made a waterfall braid from that ear curving to the left side along the back (I did the waterfall braid out of memory so it might not be quite right, in any case it doesn't show up with my hair colour almost at all). Then I did a french rope braid on the left side which contains all my face framing layers. Then I rope braided my length into side braid on left side and formed a rose bun on the left side. Although it doesn't look like rose bun this time, lol. It was supposed to look fansier hair style all and all: rose buns and french rope braids and water fall accents and all and it does look nice but quite what I had imagined!

Its in a bun :bigtongue: (How I do a bun is like very simple. idk if this is a style of bun of not but I just take my hair like I would put it in a pony tail and twist it and wrap it around. until a few months ago I thought that was what buns were. Came to the LHC and BOY WAS I WRONG! there is about a million types)

Side braid again, because I'm studying and need it off my back.

I secured the braid with mini claw clip. It's ugly AF but in my mind I feel it's relatively damage free? Less damaging than elastics? Opinions? I often use this method when I'm just at home.

Today for the first time in ages I let my hair air dry just to see what it did. The back went curly, the front went wavy, then it all went frizzy and I ran out of patience. I de-frizzed with a bit of coconut oil on the ends, and put it half up for work a clip. Although it went frizzy at first, at least it could be tamed! I need to learn better styling techniques.

For walking I do high ponytails with cloth/elastic hair ties; a LWB w/ficcare if I need my Winter hat.

To go out, barrette half ups... or ponytails if it is windy.
