The Flexi-8 / Lilla Rose Thread

Hele is it me or do the XLs seem bigger than before? The stick is the same, but the 8 seems bigger (wider?). I compared my new one to my older, silver-toned Tree of Life and the ToL seems smaller. I'll take a side-by-side when I have some time. Not complaining, I like it.

Also, the gold open flower is much much prettier in person than on the site if anyone was on the fence about it.

I have to pay really close attention to the size of the "8" on the XL flexis so that they will fit me.

I second that. I have it in large and it's really nice -- it has much more presence than the website photos would suggest.

That's what it looks like to me. Comparing it to some of the clips that they explicitly identify as black nickel, it looks very similar to me. It's certainly a much closer match for that than for silver.

Lovely choice! I've looked long and hard at that one myself and the only reason I've held off so far is that I don't really wear Flexis enough to warrant a huge collection. I may yet break down and get it, though! :D

Yes, this. No two of my larges are exactly the same size either. I think it depends on the beads.

I've been drooling from the shadows for a while, but only just got my first evah Flexi today! It's a mini Heart Bloom I scored from nuvola on the swap board, and I'm sooooo happy I can actually wear my braid out in public, instead of wrapped in a daggy hair tie for sleeping only. It can haz blingz! :happydance:

And looking at the recent lovelies on here, I can see I have a problem (especially the open gold flower)! Gah! I do have another mini and 2 large pretties heading my way via the swap board, so am eager to see how the different sizes go. I think I'll only need the smaller ones for low ponytails, etc., and keep to forks and sticks for most of my buns. I guess. I s'pose. I dunno. I'm screwed, aren't I...

Thank you Theobroma! It's the smallest you can get, a mini. And it's actually a little big for the end of my braid and will slip off if I braid too small and tight. Yay for fine, slippery hair. :rolleyes: So I found it needed a little more meat further up the braid (only a cm or so can make a difference as the last few inches of my hair is layered), where it has stayed without a worry all day. I can feel the weight of it, though, so wouldn't wear it when being super active or working out.

What you could do is wrap a hair (or other) elastic around the pin, ideally a clear one so it won't show. That would give you a little more grip and bulk and perhaps keep the clip from slipping too easily.

I love the look of those tiny flexis on the ends of braids! Unfortunately, it's going to take forever for my ends to thicken enough to try this myself. Until then I'm enjoying other people's pictures. :)

Now that I have been thoroughly enabled, I really want an extra small for halfups. I find that the small is too loose to do that. I could also take more hair, but I want another size! I really want an extra large for buns. The large is perfect for nautilus but it can't do anything bigger. I think if I had those two sizes, my collection would be complete!

Thanks! I kinda went berserk after finding that stall. :laugh: I didn't even consider the price because I was so excited to see them in person. Thank goodness my finace offered to buy them for me because getting them all at once would have been out of my budget! It was also buy 4 get 1 free. So that's why I now have 5!

Yeah, I love that idea! I'm also going to try threading some ribbon in the last bit of the braid and then around the pin, to then hang loose. Just a little more bulk and security, with added prettiness (as long as it doesn't look "too much").

Because I was struggling with the XL I finally had to learn the lazy wrap bun. Which was one that always turned out lopsided for me. It works and is really comfortable (no wonder it's a go-to bun) and my XL flexi holds it just fine. Hurrah!

My September FOTM arrived.

I like it, but I'm less than delighted with the smallest of the glass beads, the ones closest to the pin at the outsides and to the centre at the inside. I wasn't sure from the product photos whether they were clear or iridescent silver, and it turns out that they're half and half -- but randomly, irregularly, as though clear glass beads had been messily half-daubed with a silver coating. Not my favourite look ever!

Fortunately they aren't the most dominant feature of the clip, but I think the overall appearance would have been better if they'd used more of the plum colour instead.

I ordered my first flexis. Extra large gold tree of life and a small gold princess tiara. I'm so incredibly frustrated with their website though; it took me an HOUR to order the darn things! My shipping and billing addresses are different and their site didn't want to accept that; it kept putting part of my shipping address into my billing address and no matter how many times I re-edited it to fix it, it would put it back. :steam

I couldn't get paypal to work last time I ordered, so I had to use my debit card instead. Not too pleased about that, using paypal is much easier. I hope you get the paw-print flexis, they're so cute :)

Thanks KittyBird, they are working with me for a solution, but so far the thing hasn't worked and I don't have another option available. I even downloaded a new browser on my system and that one did not take either. It's not a history or cookie issue as all those have been cleared multiple times now. I tried creating a new account to see if THAT would sort things, but no dice there either as it errors out on some entry in some field (and no clue WHAT field is the culprit). It doesn't go back to the payment method selection page, I just got an error there's something wrong with the website. But I've figured out how to fix it. I only got it when I'm already signed in. When you're already signed in, underneath your name, e-mail etc. there's a button. It's like 'choose another method' or 'change data' or something like that. (I'm not really sure what the button says unless I buy another flexi, and I'm not going to do that :p) Then you can click 'continue' and everything is alright. Really strange.

The answer to those two questions is different for me. ;)

My favourite, by quite a large margin, is Flitter. I adore it and think it's beautiful and it's my favouritest flexi ever. However, if I could only choose one I would pick a silver celtic knot, because while I might not love it as much as Flitter it can be worn with just about anything.

A custom one based on the copper rose with green beads (I had a picture in my album, but it was lost when the board crashed). Unfortunately it's a large; I'm hoping that I'll eventually be able to get them to make me another in XL.

If I didn't have that one, it'd be a toss-up between Ruby Bouquet and the current September FOTM.

Not right now, but I really hope they will bring back the custom option! Otherwise the selection is pretty limited for me, as I prefer gold and copper, and there are so few in the XXL size. The Tree of Life in gold made me very happy though, I hope they will get other styles in gold too. Moar gold!

My flexi with dangles doesn't get caught in my hair, but it's hard to put it in my hair so the dangles don't get stuck between my hair and the flexi, if you know what I mean.

I cannot move past the payment selection screen, I have been in contact with lillarose of course, but on my end I cannot find a solution. Honestly I don't know what to do. A new account didn't work, a different computer didn't help either, I even tried ordering with my smartphone which I would never do unless hell freezes over. Yes of course I cleared my cookies, my computer is feeling raw to the touch of me doing that. I even took my modem out of the wall to see if THAT could be it. I tried everything but spit at my screen, I don't see where the error on my side could be still. I cannot order along with a friend in this country because of the customs fees issue. My account and ordering worked fine, four times before on lillarose on the same system, how else did I get this ruby! But that 20% sale hit and whap, I can't pay. I find this all very strange.

Since email ordering and sending an invoice attached to an order isn't possible... I guess the last order has been placed by me for a newer model flexi, which REALLY REALLY bums me out to be honest, I have been buying them for years after all. :(

Nebulae -I have only recently acquired as many bun-size Flexis as I have minis, and I'm getting ready to sell/trade some of them, so my minis will be way in the majority again! I like wearing half-ups the day I wash myhair, and I think the minis are just so cute!plus they are one of the few things I've found that will hold anyway- unless I use cones. Then they slowly slide right out. :p

I am having this trouble as well. What I have been doing is trying to catch bun hair with the stick instead of inserting the stick only under the bun. Also you can kind of anticipate the shift and insert the flexi at a slight upward angle (or in your case downward, I put mine in on the other side) so that is will shift back to level. At this point I need a mirror or the flexi will undoubtedly be crooked. Cinnabuns have this issue but the center held buns don't rotate so much.

I have a flexi in medium that I got last Christmas. It worked well for French twists and cinnabuns, but since then, I've kind of outgrown it. I don't really do French twists anymore and my hair wasn't quite APL yet so my cinnabun could fit into a medium.

So I guess my question is, what size would you use for a lazy wrap bun for hair that's just scraping BSL? I can get it to work with the medium but it's tight and doesn't hold well. And, will this size still work once my hair gets longer? Or will I be in a constant state of having to get new sizes for new lengths? Ok, I'm done now! Thanks! :couch:

Technically it's available all October, but it also depends on how fast they sell out. Some styles are in stock the entire month, others sell out almost immediately. It also depends on what size you're buying, as some sizes seem to be more popular than others. :)

Hmm, alright. It feels a bit stupid to purchase something before my other order arrives. The ones I have on their way now are for halfups and possible ponytail-holders (if they fit well for that). My hair is too short for buns but I will want to make them in the future, so if I purchase more flexi 8s I will probably want to buy for that... I guess it would require an extra large? (not sure)

Whatever I decide to do I will wait for the other ones to arrive.

The only thing they'll modify is making a flexi left-handed - they won't even swap out centerpieces anymore.

There's been some suggestion they might set up something custom-like, but not in the near future.

Gah, that's awful. My all-time favourite Flexi is a custom and unfortunately I've pretty much outgrown it -- I got it in large and I really need XLs now! I've been hoping I could eventually get it duplicated in XL, but I suppose that won't be happening now, or perhaps ever. :cry:

My first ever and that's probably why...the pretties colors come in the fall. I've been wanting to make a purchase since the winter but nothing screamed buy me until now. I contemplated a custom but I couldn't settle on one design. It's the piece in the middle that sold me on this one. LOVE IT!

Well, my hair is BSL when it's curly, which means that it's past hip when it's straight. (Ah, the joys of curly hair.) Once you factor in the thickness and pouf of the curls, I can only wear an XL or Mega already. It's too bad, because I really want to get a rainbow cluster, but it only goes up to size Large. :(

My very first flexi-8 arrived yesterday and I love it. I got the Lovely Circle Aurora Borealis in medium.

I played around with a ponytail but it seemed a little slippery but that might just be my 4th day hair :) but that shouldn't be a problem when my side-cut has grown out long enough to get into a pony (in a year or two haha) and hopefully making the flexi a bit tighter.

I decided to try a bun for work today. I think the medium is possibly a bit small(?) but I am a machinist and have a moderately active job so I'm really happy with how it held up... even after catching it in tinsel a couple of times (this picture was taken just after finishing work.)

I realise this is probably a very newbie thing to say but until now I've only held up ponys/buns with elastics and I am amazed by how good this felt on my hair and scalp. It was so comfortable and light :)

So now I just have to get a small for half ups in the future and maybe see if it's a better fit for a pony. Maybe also a large or buns. :rolleyes:. Maybe next payday.

So I have discovered the Flexi8 and I am very very tempted to order one (maybe for Christmas - as I'm not great with the whole ordering over Internet thing).
I particularly love the green dragonfly one. :)

The only thing is I don't know which size I should order - the "Mega" is not listed in the sizing charts - but given my ponytail is over 5'', and hip length hair (though with a lot of taper), which would be the safest size to go for? I'm afraid I'll get one that is too small, or one that is too large and will have to wait to grow into (though I suppose that is preferable, though the bigger ones also seem to be more expensive :()

Very pretty, SnottyDotty and Selkie! And as for sizing, DreamSheep, do you only want it for buns, or other styles? And what sort of buns? Centre-held or something the flexi can fully envelop? All sizes have their place, no matter how long your hair is (but hair thickness/thinness, slipperiness and amount of curl can be an issue).
