Thanks to this forum I discovered Flex-8's! I just bought three with their recent promotion - two for my daughters, one for me. Theirs will be a Christmas gift. Can't wait!

Good news: I got my kaleidoscope in the mail today and it is gorgeous!
Neutral news: My hair is not long enough to do a tails up/peacock twist. It doesn't stay twisted so it just looks like the world's dumbest and messiest ponytail.
Bad news: The beads keep catching hairs between them and get broken when I take it out before I can realize they're stuck. ):

I bought two flexis now, one in XL (my first XL actually; Festive Leaf) and one in medium (for half-ups and ponytails) - Purple Cluster. :crush: I couldn't get a Winter Wonder this time, but I did get the shipping for free for the others!


Wosie, any centre-held bun should work with a large. I use mine for LWB and pencil/Nautilus buns. I can also use them for French twists, though they're getting to be a bit cramped for that style.

Isn't the disc bun a centerheld bun, though? :hmm: When I tried to close my L flexi, I had to struggle like crazy, to the point of worrying about damaging both the flexi and my hair. Afterwards the bun looked all smushed together. :p

Yeah, I was like that too, three hours after Cania here gave the shout out I decided I wanted a snowflake one, and by then they were al gone, in every size! I wish I hadn't thought about it so long and just bought one. I love snowflakes. Now I am sad. Let's be sad together. :(

So I missed out on the FOTM and the snowflake flexi... I wasn't that convinced about the FOTM anyway so it's probably just as well! The good news is that they restocked the 'Fascinating and Fun' in XL so I grabbed one of those. I love my size medium one! :)

It's just a pity there is so little choice when it comes to the mega size flexi. I am at a really awkward stage now where the XL is kind of too small and the mega is still a little too big! Wish there was a size in-between! :o

Aww, don't be sad, you lot. :grouphug: You know what? I think lillarose will reinstate the Dec-2013 flexi in December again, or even sooner, as they got sold out so quickly and are so popular. :) Or they might just put it among the standard flexis you can buy, like Flitter. I certainly don't think this is the last we've seen of this flexi!

I have a feeling the Winter Wonder will return, rather sooner than later! What other flexis would you like to see again? My favourite monthly flexi ever thus far is the Flitter, and I was so happy to see it return. :D

She found one and sent me an email to set up a meeting time and that's the last I've heard. That was in March! I've been sending emails about once a month but no response..... So now I just want to buy one (if I can beat the rush!!) and get it over with. My last name is Winter so snowflakes and snowmen are part of my life all year long!

Ooh, it seems like gremlins have been sabotaging PMs lately so you may well have replied and I didn't get it! Isn't the Kaleidoscope in stock in XL at the moment? I can't imagine you wanting to trade for a clip you can just purchase so I may be getting very confused but if it is that one I would be happy to buy one and have it shipped to you :laugh:

I got my flexi in. The center bead is in crooked so I will be contacting them about this. Pic to follow.

To be honest, I am disappointed in the way this one looks. Quite dirty to the eye. I get that it is the silver, but it just looks a whole lot better in the pictures in the shop.

Yeah, I am very disappointed. The center bead is in correctly in one corner, in the opposite corner it sticks out well above the socket. Pardon the lousy quality of the pic, I have to think about my bandwidth as well. Steve has been mailed already with higher res pics of what I am posting below. This really is not acceptable, but hopefully he'll be able to work something out with me.

Posted this later on, but it is handy to know here: You can get a much better quality pic when you hover over the picture after you have clicked the thumbnail and then click the magnifying glass. That will give you the original size which is less blurry.

In the mean time I looked at shipping fees for shipping this back to the USA. If not registered, that is not a big deal and doable, but if it has to be registered it's going to cost me a flipping $20US shudder:

Ugh photobucket is being a bit annoying. You can get a much better quality pic when you hover over the picture after you have clicked the thumbnail and then click the magnifying glass. That will give you the original pixel size which is less blurry.

The flexi itself was $17. I will have to wait and see what Steve is going to say, because I definitely am not going to pay the purchase price again to have it sent back. Normal mail is more reasonable at least, but yeah, still *sigh*

Eadwine, I am so sorry about your disappointment with it. Totally understandable. I guess they have some quality control issues since the merge. The few times they've messed up an order for me they emailed me a pre-paid label so I just printed it off, stuck it on the mailer and mailed the flexi, no charge on my end. I hope they do the same for you, you don't need any more frustration or disappointment.

I didn't want to undo my braid, so I just stuck it on the tassel. It looks ok from far away, it looks shiny, but I was expecting something more like the picture. And this isn't the first time this has happened. My medium flexi has a bit of that "dirty" look, but it's only on the pin, so I let it go. Now I'm wondering if I should just stay away from flexis altogether.

Avis, sorry to hear that you were dissapointed with your first flexi... I think it looks very beautiful, despite the "dirty" look (but yes, pictures can be deceiving, that's why I try not to trust them 100% to avoid future disappointments!).

If you really don't like the colour, maybe you could write to Lillarose and tell her that wasn't what you were expecting? If you can't return the item, or change it for another, you can always swap it in the boards, like Majorane says :flower:

Flexi and I are currently working on a solution. I don't want to disclose anything just yet until they have addressed both the bead issue AND the silver issue.

Please anyone DO contact them when you are disappointed about the silver as well, this just cannot be let slide. I cannot be the only one who looks at it and goes ugh. It is similar on the two little paws I ordered recently, but at least they aren't THAT bad, it's acceptable. This however IMHO is not. Avis, I see what you mean with the "from a distance", on the pic it just looks yucky :( I am so sorry to see that.

Personally that dirty thing going on is not the flexi quality I am used to. I have quite a few silvers, you have to look hard to find that black (paws left aside), and I have the feeling that this one was rushed out or something.

Waiting for a reply on that still in any case.

Avis and Eadwine I think you might have gotten a defective flexi's. I order 5 compass rose and all of the silver was fine. I usually order 5 different size of the FOTM for different hairstyles. I have to say I am a bit of a hoarder when it comes to LillaRose, but I am trying not to buy so much. I skipped September and October FOTM which I consider to be a small step forward. Sorry to here about your frustration.

Another thought about the 'lopsided' Festive Leaf, maybe it has to be lopsided, as the star-like bead in the middle can't be placed in the exact middle of the flower bead? Either way, I don't mind it at all now that I looked at other pictures of the flexi and saw that all of them had the same look. :)

I just received the flexis I ordered and I'm very happy with the quality considering the price. And also the shipping time, under a week to Sweden is very good. It went through without additional import charges. There are no customs on low amount, but 25 % tax and 100 SEK or so in administrative fee, so I'm very happy to not need to pay that. I ordered two large and one XS, and I'm happy I decided on large instead of medium, the large are actually more like a medium ficcare in sizing, but takes up a bit more volume. In Ficcare I can use both medium and large, more large though lately. But the flexis are easier to center hold with, and well, more flexible. A medium would probably work fine for me right now, but since my hair is going to grow, large was a much better option.

I put my hair up in a flipped cinnabun, and it feels very secure, but not heavy. Much lighter than the large ficcare, and much easier to use.

I got customs once from Feelunique with huge schampo/conditioner bottles. They reimbursed me though. I guess heavy packages are more likely to get caught. From what I understand there is no limit on the tax, but the customs limit is pretty high. But since the tax is much higher than the customs it doesn't matter much.

Oh, yay! I'm glad all worked out with the Festive Leaf! It's a beautiful piece! And yay for joining the XL club! I'm there now, too, although XLs still squish my buns... (that sounds wrong, hey...) I think that has a lot to do with my largish amount of very fine, easily squished hair, though. Pics of both your newbies? :D And thank you for the FOTM love! I don't think it is as dirty looking as others, but it's pretty bright down here as we head towards summer, so everything looks blingy! sofo, I'm such a goof... How does one know whether one has paid taxes for an item or not? Do you have to go to the post office and retrieve your packages from there then, and pay a certain sum, like with customs?

Crystawni, I never thought I'd have enough hair for an XL flexi at this point (and most people seem to be able to use smaller ones, including the spokeswoman over at lillarose.biz), so I continued to buy larges even though they didn't fit very well... I can still use them, though, but I have to make... what's-it-called... layered buns?

Wosie, Actually if you don't have to pay taxes when getting your package at the post office you should report the import by yourself to the customs... Which of course no one does. Otherwise you will have to pay to get your package. When that happened to me it was about 160 SEK. 100 SEK in administrative fee and 60 SEK in taxes (moms). The webshop I ordered from actually reimburses this because they will lose so much sale if they don't, since no one in EU would buy from them (a small island outside of UK that isn't included in the union). But anytime we shop from someone that doesn't ship within EU taxes and fees are expected. Customs are on higher amounts usually and a few percent, taxes are on everything (as we are used to anyway living in Sweden). Tullverket has some calculator for this, but usually they say to expect another 30 % or so when buying from the US.

I got my mini and xsmall rose compass and love them! Maybe if Lilla rose had put'' antique silver'' in the listing that could have warned people that it was not bright silver.I feel it wasn't defective but more an error on their part when they wrote up the written description of the clip.I notice they do vary their metal colours and throw in antigue colours sometimes,this has happened before.I was surprised how bright my winterwonderland silver was..It did look great in the clip.I feel they have to be more careful describing their metal colours in the written description.

Wosie, The customs is decided at the airport I think, some packages goes through, others get stopped. And small letters usually just pass through since they don't have time to check every single package. The post office couldn't care less. :) The flexi package was so small that I got it directly in my mailbox.

I have an XS for half ups and it seems to be the perfect size. Tried it for a ponytail as well, but I just couldn't close it.

I have some trouble with my new flexis in size L. I did a flipped cinnabun that held for everything and was great, but I have trouble with regular cinnabuns. I just can't seem to get them to hold like I can with my Ficcare. Where exactly should I insert the flexi? My hair is very slippery at the moment, maybe that is causing the problem. I'll check if its better directly after wash.

It is not the size of the package/envelope they look at, it's the value stated on it. They do a random selection on that as far as I know. Over here they are seemingly quite strict because things over the limit will get picked out about 90% of the time. If there is no value mentioned on the outside and they THINK it might be valuable still it gets put aside for inspection, they will open it, and if they think it is valuable but there is no invoice in it you (the buyer) will get a letter from them to copy the invoice and send it to them before they will send it on to you. If you don't respond to that the item is going to be returned to the sender.

In terms of flexi-buns I am no expert but I use my XL flexi's for LWB's and cinnabuns but can't yet do a nautilus as my hair is too thick. I also use them for French twist type hairstyles (size large and medium) and as pony-holders (size medium). I am not sure if there are any specialist 'flexibuns' - most buns can be secured with a flexi though ... I wait to hear the opinions of those who are better at buns than I am! :D

I got my small Winter wonder yesterday! :happydance: It's so shiny and pretty and shiny and cute and shiny! (you are imagining me using shiny too much) It doesn't even look silver, but almost white! Now I need to learn flexibuns. I couldn't really learn much from the medium I have as it is little too big for me and my hair is being impossibly slippery the last month and a half. Can't wait for the weather to get bit colder so that I can wear it (it is around 16 Celsius today so somehow a snowflake doesn't really blend in). But I'm so happy :D And I'm also looking for flexibun suggestions :o



Maybe the boat went to the US first, and it'll arrive here after the Captain has had a break at the Carribean for some rum. "Pirates" is a much more often occuring cause of general mishaps than we tend to think. For instance I broke a hair topper today and I am sure that was pirates causing it, too. Damb scallywags.

Pirates threw my post notice (we get a little yellow paper notice that we have something to pick up at the post office) in the paper recycle bin!!! :shocked: Fortunately someone saw it and my SO found it yesterday ON the paper recycle bin. It was totally crumpled. And the date on the paper said 13.11.2014. Meaning I could have picked up my flexi on friday!!Darn pirates tried to steal my flexi! :pirate: :draw: (I was pretty mad)

I'm so disappointed that the Compass Rose sold out, and in every single size! It was such a beautiful design and really my style. :(

I decided to put the two together in a photo. The top one is the old one, the bottom one the new one. Two pics side by side because one shows one aspect better and the other another.

On the top flexi you can clearly see the bead not sitting level, and for example on the pin a lot of black where it was left unpolished. On the bottom flexi things are MUCH more polished and even though it is still pitted it is much less so. Still too dark for a proper in-hair picture ;)

I'll just sell the top one for a cheapie price + shipping to someone crafty, it's never even been worn, only taken out of the plastic to take the pictures *shrug*

I'm not sure how I feel about the big red stone in the centre. It might be a little too bright a red for my taste, and in any case my needs in the way of red hairtoys are covered by Ruby Bouquet. I do rather the combination of red stone/beads and black nickel, though.

The number of beads was the same so I did some bending to make the narrow side rounder - it looks a lot better now. I am still peeved about it though :mad: Because I am from outside the US it does seems way too much bother to try and send the clip back to them though.

I must admit I am also getting nervous about ordering new clips because it seems that there are some quality control issues going on at the moment and you just don't know what kind of clip you are going to end up with :rolleyes: It's a real shame because I find flexi's so comfortable to wear.

But really, if it's not okay after some fierce pulling, let them know. Maybe they'll suggest you send it back, maybe they come up with another solution. But they should know that there are issues with their clips! Besides, even if there are the same amount of beads on both sides, if they put the center on crooked, it's never going to be symmetric. The one I got from Eadwine, the pitted Compas Rose, also has a bit of lopside. It's so little it's not visible when worn, but it's clearly caused by the center thingy that's not folded on right. They should be more careful about these things. They aren't the most expensive clips around but they're not cheap, either! So we want quality! ...And also cheese.

Wow, that's really lopsided.. Most of my clips are a tiny bit lopsided, but it's not visible when worn. That one is extreme. Definitely contact them about it, they need to know. If they don't replace it, they should at least give you a discount - or even better, all your money back. It's not right to pay full price for a ugly/defective clip.
