It's been a while since I ordered a Flexi, thought I already have enough flexiclips,....
But ordered the solana clip in XL anyway :D

I've been waiting for a sale! I shouldn't be spending much money but my large flexi really isn't fitting my go-to buns anymore, and I think I just need to splurge a bit and get the things I need. The size difference between the L-XL is usually a lot, so I'm a bit worried they might be too big. I guess we shall see... :)

I'm definitely getting that one with the leaf and a pinecone as soon as i get my paycheck. I think i'll get a M one, as SM seems slightly too small for peacock twists and/or buns on my hair. ^^

You could maybe do half-ups? Be advised that if you look on the site during the Black Friday sale you may find yourself buying some clips before January ;) though you could still keep them as a treat for then, if you have the patience to do so :)


I finally got to order the large size of a clip I have in medium (that's basically useless now), yay! It was out of stock for so long but when it came back in stock I couldn't bear to pay full price for it, not when they have such frequent sales on. It was one with 20% off this time, double yay!

We shall see, we shall see;)
I don't know what I can do with my hair. I'm just slightly past shoulders and on top of that I'm growing out layers. Not a pretty scenario for a decent updo.
If I do order something I will probably start with size XS ...my ponytail has around 6-7 cm in circumference.

I already had the maple, but I did pick up the little pumpkin dangle, and a Charlotte for good measure. I’ve been kind of obsessed with getting my hands on the exclusives lately, so I’ve been trolling Facebook and Instagram. It was nice to hop back on the official site during a good sale.

I'm waiting for action shots then. This is one of the clips that I might buy when I see photographs other than the official ones. I wish it was just the big amber circle (I'd buy it immediately then) without the sun rays, but if it looks amazing as a whole I might ignore the fact that I don't like the sun rays themselves so much.
The official photos are neat and perfect and all, but in a way, Flexis appeal more to me when I see action shots here :)

The small flexis are in a multi-level tackle box, and my leather 8s are in a cutlery tray with the acrylic, wooden and metal sticks they play with.

My mouth just literally fell open..

It's a lot. I have 2 Flexis (one XS which i can begin to wear now and one which is a bit bigger, for when my hair has regained more of its length).

I like your taste though, and your hair :) It gives me something to hope for and to look forward to.

:rollin: I’m here! I’m actually wearing my dragon today (large) with an ONN oval. The size is perfect for the pairing.

As to modding, it’s pretty simple. Slide the flexi to the far end (the thick end) of the stick, to keep it out of the danger zone. I use heavy duty wire cutters to cut a hole in the thin portion of the stick. You can either do this twice (so there’s a gap to slide the flexi out) or do it once and then torque the stick so there’s a gap.

I don’t have any flexis currently in need of dismemberment, but next time I do it I’ll make sure to take pictures. Hope that helps! :flower:

Thank-you! My 'Starter Kit' was 1 large, 1 medium, and 3 small because I had never worn them before and wanted to be able to experiment at home and figure out what works best for what kind of style. I found the medium works best with my hair up in a nautilus bun(which is the only one I can successfully do right now :p) and the smalls are perfect for ponytails. Maybe as I get more advanced with my hair dos I'll invest in some other sizes, but for now I believe I will stick to mostly mediums.

I'm excited to have the dilemma of what to wear now! I've recently found myself glaring at my old standard hair claw before grudgingly putting it in my hair because I didn't want to wear the same toy several days in a row anymore. And I used to wear the same claw until it broke! :lala: Which could of been up to a couple months.....

I can't decide if I want to get a flexi (or two) on Black Friday this year. I did get a few pins last year adn they're great. My problem is that the last few times I've ordered I've gotten hit with big customs charges. The dumbest part is it's a $1 fee but the "we opened your package and want to rip you off fee" is like $15! It's painful, especially when my purchase is often less than that!

Today I took a step in the direction of a permanent solution for my growing collection of flexi's. I went to the dollar store and bought an 11" X 14" frame and some adhesive hooks. With the way I have it set up I can fit 23 flexi's on it. I just need to figure out what kind of image to put in there now.

Me too.

And I've decided not to buy the Solana, after all, though the action shots made me waver and I had to think about it some more. I love the amber centrepiece, but I already have a big one in similar tones (the Honey Bee). The same goes for beads. I'm not too fond of the sun rays, and I already have similar beads, I would be buying the Solana for its centrepiece alone (which is not quite my cup of tea because of the rays)... but I have a similar one. So, the dispute is closed.

I'm waiting for the remaining two FOTMs of 2018 and then I'll calculate how many I bought and what proportion of the new Flexis I like. It's going to be a small per cent :D On the one hand, it's good for me financially. And I do have more than enough of them at this point. On the other, I'm still sad that a thing I like so much is slipping away.

I do agree on the life of the toys! I have some I can trace back to members no longer here, and I always think of them when I see them. I have a couple from some people who became friends in real life also. The stories the toys could tell!

I"m trying to keep only about 1/4 or less of my collection. That means lots more will eventually go up for sale, if I ever have energy again to do it. The only thing I've really whittled down appreciably so far is Ficcares - and I still have over a dozen of those left to sell. One day maybe I will have the energy and flood the swap board. LOL.

I am all about the neutrals too....at least I was to begin with :lol: then the colors caught me in the acrylic sticks....and then these leathers :love:
I eventually went for some color and seasonal items with the larger beaded flexis.

My smalls hang on the side of a wicker basket I use for my forks and larger items; my larger flexis are with my other etsy 8's in velvet bags that came with barrettes.
They are not separated but still stay nice; there has been no damage touching each other.

I also modded a couple of flexis I already had! Compass Rose in mega/XXL and Dragon in XL. I'm a bit sad about the dragon: I love who it turned, BUT I made it too little for bunning (I tried, but I really need it larger) and looks a bit too big for half ups... I don't want to unmade it, so if I can't make it work in some weeks I'll try to find him another home :(

Milady, have you tried making a bun with just a part of your hair (leaving some of the sections right above your neck hanging down, like a very disproportioned half-up) and then wrapping the loose hair around the bun? This way you should be able to use the modded Dragon to hold buns :)

You're welcome! I've seen it on I think TorrinPaige's YT channel when she was trying to use a Flexi that was too small for her bun.
It doesn't even show in the final result :) I tried it too with my L Flexis a few times.

XXS is so so small... For half ups I use XS or S (I took quite little hair for it, just the "fringe" or less). Dunno about the leather, what do you want them for? Half ups or buns?

I literally have leather flexis in every size because the size I need varies depending on what hairtoy I'm using them with. I reach for a small most often because that's what works best for most of my sticks but, for example, today I'm wearing an xl because that's what works with this fork.

I had to search through my mail to find my account information to log in, and was surprised to realize when I did the search that I'd never once gotten an email from them since the day I signed up. Nothing! No sales information as either a customer or a rep. For the last 11 months. Isn't that odd?

Anyway, it bummed me out a bit because I realized there were several new styles (and probably have been many this year) that I missed because I didn't know they existed. Anyway, it bummed me out a bit because I realized there were several new styles (and probably have been many this year) that I missed because I didn't know they existed. I checked my subscriptions and I'm supposed to be getting news and such. Anyone else have this problem? Are there just no sales announcements? I already have enough online stuff I check, I don't want to have to check the website every day. I did just realize that there's an entire Facebook group for reps, so I joined that. Maybe that will help me get the notices for the good stuff.

I just follow their official Facebook page and my stylist's page (as two of the literally 5 ones I follow on Facebook). Their e-mail reaches me, but it's usually relatively late. I get it a day before the sale or on the day it begins. Facebook is faster. Stylists' fangapes are usually even faster than the official one. So just find a stylist who is active and posts everything up to date and like them on Facebook :) I know it will be one more thing to follow/check online, but it's shouldn't be too bothersome.

I received my flexis in the mail yesterday! I did a couple messy buns to see how the XLs fit, and they're staying in just fine! I thought the celtic would be the biggest, but it ended up fitting the smallest of the three XLs I got.

I'm quite enjoying the celtic knot one, it feels so much lighter in my hair than any of my other flexis. It's definitely a plus when I have fine hair and am prone to headaches with buns.

I also quickly stuck in the free U-pins I got last night, and they surprisingly held better than I thought they would. I may be using these more than I thought! Not sure what kind of buns to make with them though... I'm bad at cinnabuns. :p

I'm safe. I like the way the star one looks quite a lot, but I know I wouldn't wear it much.

So I can officially say that in 2018, I bought 1 out of the 12 FOTMs. And, to be more precise, one Flexi out of all the new releases – FOTMs and "general" new releases. (I bought 2 old ones: a Vanessa off of eBay, and an Aviva and a Celtic Cross to have them modified into an Aviva centrepiece on the Celtic Cross base. I sold the other modded Flexi, the one made of "spare" parts, so I don't count it as the third purchased one, since I didn't keep it.)

Looks like medium brown to me. You type your hair after washing it and letting it air dry with as little touching as possible. So far it Does look like you have some body wave at least, so i think you could be a 1C or 1c/2a type. It might get more wavy as it grows out though. Was it Wavy when you were at APL? The thickness is determined by measuring your ponytail circumference. I'd say you are at least medium thickness, but hard to say. :)

Cannot believe the price LR wants to charge for the rose water they're going to sell. $18 for 2oz? 2oz is nothing. I get huge bottles at Marshalls for $6. The rep I follow on Facebook was also making a bunch of claims about rose water that I'm pretty sure are completely made up. They need to stick to clips.

The $4 in shipping is MUCH less than what I would have to pay for starters (13 euros) if taxes and such get added here. The 13 is the basic rate for even handling the thing, taxes and stuff get added onto that.

The threshold for extra charges depends on each country's customs law. Different postal services charge different handling fees; here Royal Mail charge a flat rate of £8, which is fair enough for an order of high value, but when the actual customs/VAT charge is much less than that it's really annoying! The threshold here is £15, so the handling fee alone is more than half the item's actual value :rolleyes:

The international shipping thing is an odd one. It seems USPS *have* increased their generic international postage, and one Etsy seller explained that they won't give her the business rate, even though as a small business the loss of international customers hits her really hard. However in the USPS postage rates document, there is still the cheap option for a small item - I can't remember the specifics but I'll come back when I've dug it out again. I have to admit I am still confused as to why people don't use that option; maybe I missed something that specifies they can't, or maybe they're just worried it will be rejected from that category and go with the standard expensive option to be on the safe side. I don't know :confused:

They are jewelry hangers, or scarves hangers. They usually come with a hanger so you can hang them on a rod, but I opted to remove that one and mounted it on the wall :)

Yes, and girls on the photo thread also think it agrees with my hair colour. I had no idea how it will match when I ordered it, I just liked the hummingbird. But those pink beads somehow look good in my hennaed strands :) I have a few brighter streaks ( a little highlighting experiment from a year ago) and they always take in more henna and become more red.
I think I will be getting more hair toys in the future ;) what colours would you suggest?

Recently C_Bookworm mentioned cutting off the arms and using her own sticks and THAT made all the difference for me!
It is the arm that has the weight, and my med/lg clips always slid so I barely wore them.
Now I LOVE to wear them and get more use from them because the sticks give me more colors options and an awesome hold!

My stylist hinted that Lilla Rose will be having an option along those lines in a few months....perhaps the option of attached arm or not ....and at a lower cost I imagine too :thumbsup:

So you may want to consider removing the arm too if it is too heavy...I did it to all my clips except the smalls and I am so happy I did :)

The differences in weight are quite significant.

My 3 L clips weigh 27 grams and I have ones that are I'd say medium. I can imagine some lighter ones (Svelte line) and some heavier ones (some with bigger centrepieces). The ones I have are Flower stone-set with simple danglie in garnet red (it's old but you can still find pictures for reference), the Celtic interlace with vibrant emerald beads in antique gold and the Scroll work heart with mini heart accents.

I don't have more Ls, but maybe it will help you in a way to know the differences between light, medium weight and heavy clips in XL:
Lightest: Svelte line. They have small/medium centrepieces and no beads: 29g
Medium: clips with beads and medium centrepieces, like Violet (used to be called Violet Dreams): 40-42g

Which clips would be lightest? I now need a mega for a french twist, and I find the XL to be too heavy as it is.


The one with non metal beads and small thin centerpieces.

The one with the wings for example is quite heavy, the tree of life is a lot lighter. Not weighed on the scales, just held them in my hand to compare.

eadwine has good suggestions. :) I got the limited celtic flexi in XL (#2593) and found it to be very light and comfortable, it felt lighter than my L rose beaded flexi and other 2 XLs.

From the pictures on lilla rose, it looks like the turtle, abby, celtic heart and southwest flexis are a similar style to my XL celtic flexi, so those ones may feel lighter in your hair as well? :)
