When I ordered from the sale in November I actually forgot I'd ordered them, they took so long. About a month to get to me in the UK (although postal strikes here probably didn't help, along with the usual Christmas pressure on the service).

Does anyone have any experience with international shipping?

I did an order on the 16th, it was shipped on the 18th, when I try to track the shipping it appears to be staying put... There is this message "Due to limited uplift capacity and flight cancellations, we are experiencing a disruption in service from the West Coast into Australia."

Sadness. I know there must be a good reason for any delays but I wish there was a bit more info with the tracking, or an estimated delivery date.

A few days ago, there were a bunch of flight disruptions due to a system error. That could what they're referring to.

I just got my flexi's from the black friday sale. And one I won on instagram.
One package I had to pay VAT again, one package went through without trouble.

Here they are: I wear L now.

We have very similar taste in flexi's. I also have those first 2. But this is my first time seeing that bottom one. Wow! It's now on my "must have" list. Very nice haul!

I don't have any type of glue in the house.
So I hope LR can tell me which glue I have to buy (available in Europe) and reimburse a part to buy the glue with.
It shouldn't fall out in 1 day...

Posting a photo of my new flexi here as well as on the swap board! Got this one in the winter swap from Natt i Nord and I love the autumn style and the leaves. I suspect I will be using this a whole lot! Sorry about a very non-interesting bun. It's the flexi we want to see, not the bun :-D

Well, I finally got my Lilla Rose order after a full month….but according to the tracking, my order is still in California! Obviously the tracking system is down.

Here is my order below. Loving the new bigger size turquoise sport flexi….so much bigger! And I finally got my pink sport flexi, yay! They sent me the snowflake bobby pin free with the order. Cool how they always give me free gifts with each order. So generous.

It is such a beautiful collection, Henrietta. I have cut my hair too, due to thinning (bunning the entirely wrong way... I know), and I barely fit a S anymore. Thankfully I had enough in every size, granted not as many in smaller sizes, but still, enough. I don't want to start this obsession again. LOL!

Henrietta, you are making me want to buy more flexi clips! I especially liked the one with the purple rock in the middle and the one with the treble clef (as a music lover!)

I find that my flexis are the best for my scalp. I have been using two and/or three prong forks, but it just pulls too much on my scalp. I can hardly take any pulling, actually none at all. I have to not feel the bun at all to not feel sore at the end of the day, and I find that the flexi is the closest I get to that....

This one is 11 cm across. It's larger than a metal L but smaller than a metal XL. I bought it when I was using metal XLs and it worked fine for me as an equivalent.

From LR themselves it's cost me $5 to get them in the UK.

(Etsy shipping tends to be $15 because they're not big enough businesses to get the contract for cheaper postage, whereas LR evidently have a big enough customer base for the cheaper option.)

No, because they add VAT at the checkout as long as it's under £135. Not sure what the EU threshold is where customs duties apply though.

Henrietta
February 28th, 2023, 08:48 AM
I don't know if there's a general EU-wide threshold. It might still vary from country to country.
When other countries have had very low thresholds, in Poland it was the equivalent of 150 EUR for a long, long time. Now they changed to... I think 22 EUR. Up to 22 EUR there are no extra costs. From 22 EUR to 150 EUR we have to pay VAT and processing fees. For shipments above 150 EUR, we have to pay VAT, processing fees and customs.

MusicalSpoons
February 28th, 2023, 10:01 AM
That arrangement sounds like what other EU countries had before, and then abolished the €22 threshold (for us it was £15). Now in many countries the only VAT exemption is a gift up to X amount (UK is £39, €45 is the figure I've seen for some EU countries), and then the £135/€150 threshold for customs duties as you say.

Thanks Henrietta, I think it's the same size I already have then.

You pay VAT in the shop, but sometimes it goes wrong and you have to pay the VAT again at the customscontrol + administrationcosts.
It varies per country how much administrationcosts they charge. (In The Netherlands is it 4 euros if you pay online and 7-11 if you pay at the postoffice)
Everything above 150 euros gets an extra importtax on top.

Flower stone-set with simple danglie in garnet red: a classic from the old Flexi8 store, one of my first three clips ever (size large). The small danglie is a nice accent.

https://i.imgur.com/3rRTp2o.jpg

Pearl, Svelte line: LR had this line of minimalistic clips for a short time only, but I've managed to get a few. They are very light and run a touch smaller than the typical metal ones.

https://i.imgur.com/LVQgg3A.jpg

Carmine is the same design as Emerald Dream, just with different colors. And the colors are super unique!

https://i.imgur.com/CiFiWKr.jpg

Hoot is a gem with tiger's eye center and beads

https://i.imgur.com/mtvhAu3.jpg

Nila is a clip from a series of simple clips with single-colour beads and the simple band centerpiece. It was my go-to clip for a simple outfit with jeans ;)

https://i.imgur.com/MTdZQQn.jpg

Elegance (together with the white version, Grace) was always my clip of choice for evening events

https://i.imgur.com/GnMTB0N.jpg

Vanessa is also a Svelte line clip. I ignored it when it was available in the official store, got interested in it a bit later, had to look for it everywhere and miraculously found it on eBay. (Brand new!)

https://i.imgur.com/LebBMxr.jpg

Tessa, for which I also had to look everywhere because I didn't appreciate it when it was available as a "Stylist Exclusive" clip. I couldn't find it on eBay, here or anywhere else, but my lovely Lilla Rose stylist found it for me in less than 24 hours! (Tracy is the best!)

The regular size won’t fit fully around my pony but the larger ones do….although I have to squeeze super tight.

They’re way too small to fit right around my entire bun but can still hold a bun if you clip them just at the top, like this below. Haha, just did this fast to show you what I mean….

For dance classes I just did a ponytail but for swim lessons I did a strange smushed approximation of a bun to keep my hair out of the water and it worked.

I will say that it feels like the extra is not super large even when you use it on the largest setting. If my hair were longer or thicker, I feel like I might actually have trouble fitting it around a ponytail. But it works really well right now.

Sure thing, love.

I like to use the smaller ones for half-up dos sometimes when I take my outdoor walks. For pony tails, I often use one of those tiny clear elastics to hold my pony and then I place the regular size flexi around as much of the pony as I can….just for decor mostly because I like the sporty look while I work out. Lol. Now that I have the larger size though, I can get it fully around my pony but it’s a very tight squeeze and makes a dent in my hair later when I wear it down, if I leave it in for too long.

Other times, I’ll do a french braid and place the small flexi at the end of the braid, where the hair isn’t as thick. For buns though, both sizes hold well, when just clipping the top of the bun.

Oh and there is also another way to make a pony tail with a smaller flexi, even if you have super thick hair. You make a pony tail with your hand, leaving a small 1 inch section of hair hanging down. Then you take that one inch section and wrap it around your pony tail. Then take the small flexi and clip it through the top of the hair-loop you made around your pony and fasten to your scalp hair. Hard to describe with words but I hope you get what I mean. This holds a pony tail quite well.

I got a 3 pack of the smaller size in order to pineapple my curls at bedtime. (Intro set) I LOVE THEM! I can still do center hold buns with them because my hair seems to want to stay "puny" and not grow.. so in efforts to combat my years long goal of "waist length when curly" I've been doing more updo's because it would seem I have a choice, LONG OR curly... So I just ordered the black in the EX size so I can do full (damp) buns with no worries. Also I fell in love with the Mane event (first one I LOVED). I don't normally wear a ton of blue so I had to make certain I had the outfits to match ><.

But aside from the pretty, the sport flexi's have been a SOLID favorite, and it really shocked me at how much I like them!

Oh! Your to-die-for ankle length hair *heart* I’m so curious as to what flexi size you use. I use an XL for buns. I’m still knee…but when does it become calf? I think it might hit the thickest part of my under-the-knee part of my leg when it’s wet. The butterfly is super beautiful! The enamel is very smooth and bright and the blackish metal (I forget what they call this color) matches really well. I only wish the center was a little bigger. It looks a tiny bit small, but it’s a really beautiful flexi (maybe the prettiest I have? I’m not sure. It’s not a bird one, so maybe not). I hope you post pictures of your hair up in it. I think it would look lovely on you *smilies*

That leaf flexi is so pretty! I love the grape-swirls next to the leaf! It’s so artistic. I love it against your very net and tidy braided bun! …I think maybe it’s a lazy wrap bun? …and it’s started with a French braid, no less! *impressed* I’m still practicing my French braiding. Sometimes it looks right but it still turns out like a spiderweb sometimes. My fingers are not talented.

I’m really just an acrylic stick girl but I really love the designs on flexis and I like seeing everyone’s pictures so I end up here. Isn’t that strange? Maybe it’s some kind of flexi-ency…*smilies*

Haha, I love looking at single stick buns but they don't work for me so I get it. Living vicariously, maybe? That's just a plain old French braided bun. My hair tends to be slippery so the French braid gives it some stability.

Ah thank you, Aithne  Hehe when does it become calf is a good question...I think I called it after I was 4-5" past the knee crease and it looked safely upper calf from most angles :p The majority of my flexis are XXLs but really one in between an XL and XXL would be ideal. The XXL doesn't always feel snug enough and the XL looks more squished. I was debating the size and if I liked it enough to get two, but looks like I waited too long because all but the XXS are sold out at the moment! It must be popular. I'm hoping they restock soon and I'll have made up my mind by then.

I came here to see if anyone’s mentioned it. I think it looks so pretty! <I’m so excited about it that I’m repeating myself *giggles* Welp…off I go to read farther? further? April "Mane" event was the first one I fell for hard, my order should be here Tuesday! MAYBE Monday because it is in town. Which always mildly infuriates me like can I just go pick it up? LOL I don't generally do a lot of blue so I made myself come up with 3 outfits to wear it with >< I had more than 3! like 5 without really thinking it through so I have a new pretty coming. I need to reorganize them so I can truly see what I have ><

That's awesome to hear! I'm so glad you like them! I, too, am a huge fan of them for damp buns. I can't believe how well they hold.

Ooh, I'm going to try both of your suggestions! I would love to be able to expand my colour horizons for the gym. And that purple looks fantastic in your hair!

Shorty89, I can’t believe you deciphered my “Flexi-envy” typo *smilies* You are totally correct, though. Vicariously! That’s the word! I wish my plain french braided bun looked that good. I like how the big part of the braid is in the middle and the smaller part goes around like a flower crown. Mine doesn’t come out that way…

lapis_lazuli, you’re welcome and thank you for the answer *smilies* I think I’ll mark 4-5” inches past the knee crease with a piece of tape and see if I make it. The XXL is usually loose on me, except for when I use one for a Spock bun or a Chameleon pony. I wish they made a size between Xl and XXL, too…maybe someone from Lilla Rose will read this? I’m so sorry that they sold out…I was going to get an XXL and they were gone, too *sigh* The clear blue beads in this butterfly one are bigger and it seems to hold a bit less than than the regular XL.

MadHouseWitch, I feel the same! The other “special” ones in the monthly bag set weren’t *love, sparkles, must have* but this one is! The butterfly is *so* pretty, isn’t it? I hope you like it when it comes! I love mine *happy* That’s a good idea…how you think of outfits you have that would match it before you get a new hair toy. I think I’ll try to do that, too. I kept my hair toys in book-shaped boxed, but I switched to clear acrylic stackable drawers instead. Since wood hair toys don’t like light, I cut out a piece of pearl cardstock for the fronts. So far it’s working well for me…I think it was the iStorage Audry? Audrey? Ones. The I use the flat ones (for like headbands and U-pins) and the middle depth ones (that fit an XXL vertically or an XL horizontally).

Whirly Girly, it ended up being a little smaller than the usual XL clips. I think it’s because the clear blue beads are pretty big. I really love the way it looks, but they did sell out *sadness* …but I saw the gold dragonfly you got a few pages ago and wow! That one is really pretty, too! I think I might try to get that one next month *heart* Oh, and hair sticks, and hair forks and tusks, oh my! Hair toys are *SO* crazy addictive! Don’t forget the combs, flexis and Ficcares, too! *So much stuff, so little money*

Aithne thanks, that's good to know this style runs a bit smaller. I've noticed the same size can vary quite a bit depending on the design. I think I'm leaning more toward an XXL, and perhaps a M to accent braids, but I still need to try on my current ones to be sure. Maybe I'll do that now. It says "all sizes returning soon" and I need to be ready

A coworker of mine is leaving and I would like to get her a flexi as a ‘goodbye gift’. She has average to thick WL+ blunt cut ends curls. She wears a cinnabun with a hairtie often, but once I saw her use a pencil :agree: I plan to get her a XL to work like a quick cage for a cinnabun like I do, I don’t think she’ll learn more styles as she’s pretty no fuss about things.

What do you all think, is this a weird gift to give someone I don’t know very well or for very long (I started working with her in august)? We have talked about hair a couple times as we both keep our hair ‘long’ compared to anyone else, so it seems like a thoughtful gift

Given what you have described I do think it is a thoughtful gift! You accommodate for HER style too which is nice, not everyone does that! And I think it is a nice "share" for something that not everyone deals with (long hair problems) and they are nice hair toys that are pretty and hold firm

I gifted one to a friend of mine but it was one I owned in Large and XL and I could wear with cinnabun, but she has THICK long hair and was saying she didn't have things that worked with her hair. She was happy with it and wore it a few times but I don't think it is her "go to" accessory. If this coworker is moving away and you won't see them again, then the gift will serve the purpose as soon as it leaves your hands. You got to share your love of a hair toy with another human with long hair!

Has she seen you wear yours? That can help on flexi that she may like (OR I may also suggest a FLIP, for more versatility!) but I think that yes, it is thoughtful!! The first flexi's can seem daunting too, and you never know who is going to love them

I'm hoping to buy my first Flexi-8 clip and I some questions:
Based on the coin diameter sizing, I would wear a medium. However the medium pin length is 3-3/4" and typically my buns use just under 4-1/2" of hair sticks (and that's the portion of the stick that isn't sticking out). So should I go for the large with the 4-1/4" pin?

Also: Does anyone have experience making hair-stick type buns (the round ones like LWB, cinnabun, knot, ect.) with the leather 8 flexi? They look gorgeous, but I think I would need a third hand to use them on my usual buns.

Also are the leather 8 flexis sized the same as the Flexi-8 clips?

Thank you!

I haven't had a ton of experience with them although I have a couple of different ones. Here's a link that might answer your questions. My diameter is 3.5” and my hair is 29” right now. Sometimes I can get the medium flexi’s to hold a LWB through the center, but a L would be easier to handle. Depending how I’ve made the bun the center of it is sometimes too big for the M. Hope that helps! I only currently have M and XL, so I plan to a L soon :heartbeat

The way I've done it is make the bun, then partially stick a stick in with my Right hand whilst holding the bun with Left hand, use RH to put a loop of the flexi over the top end, then use my fingers (RH) to guard against it coming off as I push the stick in further. Then the bun becomes stable enough to use my Left hand to pull the second loop to meet where the stick is coming out, and guide the stick through the loop as I push it all the way through.

I don't know if that made any sense, if I could make videos I would attempt to. But I'm sure you'll get the hang of it just trying to use them and seeing what way works for you.

The leather and braided 8s tend to come up a little smaller than the metal 8s - or at least they did, last time I bought one a couple of years ago.

Hmm, I don't know if the sizing is quite that different - but then the gap between M and L is less than the gap between XL and XXL seems to be, and XL/XXL are my only reference points for braided and leather 8s, sorry. Hopefully someone with experience of those sizes will be able to help.

We're nearing the end of May, but I finally received my April flexi of the month, Aranza in Mega.

Excuse the messy action shot. I really like this one. The whole thing feels very smooth and high-quality, with the black silvertone plating and bead choices. I love the enamel butterfly and simple two-tone colour scheme. I don't know if my hair colour is the best to showcase it, but it is really a nice one.

lapis_lazuli, oh, I think the blue butterfly goes amazing with your hair color! I love the way you made the loops in your hair match the size of the flexi loops. It looks really elegant that way.

eresh, I agree. I think the main? mane? events are kind of expensive...and then they say it's __% off, but it's not sold at any other time...so it is really a sale? It's also filled with a lot of ...filler? I don't use room sprays, but they seem to come with them a lot. ...but the flexis are prettier than the other monthly flexis they had before, but they cost more, too... Oh, and thanks for the heads up about an Eresh sale *smilies*! This past week I seem to go for XXL more than XL, even though it is too loose because the XL needs more strength to close. I have to save up my "pin money" now...you have lovely taste in hair toys so I'm sure to want a few!

Hi, Alexandrina! I think the Mane Event stuff is just another name for their special monthly Flexi thing. They have a “for-that-month-only” flexi, a “surprise item” and a bobby pin in a cute little cloth zipper bag for a lot of money. The secret items have been a bobby pin (that month the bobby pin was a sample size of room spray or detangler…they come in the same size spray so it’s hard to remember), a sample of room spray or detangler (I sprayed the room spray in my hair because I thought it has hair perfume. It made my hair feel crusty-would not recommend. I didn’t even think that Lilla Rose would sell non-hair related products…) and a mini hair brush. So far none of the monthly flexis have come out for normal sale. Oh, and the price varies depending on what size flexi you pick with your set.

Eudocima, the butterfly looks so lovely in your hair! …and your bun is super cute and fluffy! Is it a cinnabun? It looks too cute and fluffy for a cinnabun…? I think that’s neat how the butterfly goes with warm and cool colored hair. That’s kind of rare, isn’t it? Thank you for posting the picture *smilies* I wonder why they made the butterfly so small. Maybe they expect people to wear multiple butterflies (merchandising tactic)?

Thanks SandyBottom and Aithne! :) The bun is actually a LWB I think. I'm glad you like it, for some reason my buns usually are fluffy, maybe it has something to do with my hair length :P I really like the butterfly, multiple ones in someone's hair at the same time would look so beautiful!! When I got it I didn't expect it to hold my hair by itself, I thought I would use it more as an ornament while wearing a stick or something else. Lots of fun!

It made my hair feel crusty-would not recommend. I didn’t even think that Lilla Rose would sell non-hair related products…) and a mini hair brush. So far none of the monthly flexis have come out for normal sale. Oh, and the price varies depending on what size flexi you pick with your set.

Oh i see, thank you for explaining! I don't like how they don't sell them separate
I like to bead my own figure 8s sometimes, but will occasionally buy from them if I really like the design, but this has-to-be-in-a-bundle thing will make me very unlikely to do so!

Here is the butterfly with a hair stick! Not the best picture in the world, but you get the idea

This is so exciting!! When I was younger I was at a Renaissance fair, and my mom and I found a stall selling these clips. At the time I had no idea about long hair and I later chopped off all of my hair into a pixie. When I found LHC and saw the discussion of these clips, I just assumed I had lost mine and definitely didn't think it was made by Lilla Rose.

Well I recently found it while packing for my move! Turns out I have Tidepool Treasures, and I've been wearing it every day since. It's a Medium so a little small for the nautilus buns I like to wear, but I still love it :)

A bit late to the train, but wondering if I might be able to get a little help with sizing.

Currently at 40"/101cm and my pony is 4"/10cm circumference. My bun is almost 5"/12.5cm across. I don't do them super tight, but I tend not to get a ton of compression anyways. I only wear buns, and would ideally like an 8 to function sort of like a bun cage, so I want to fit all of my hair in it.

I'm thinking the XL would fit?

I have slightly thinner and shorter hair and I find a XL tight for some buns. That being said, for me, a Mega is still HUGE on me. If you can afford it (and want to continue growing) get one of each.

I use an XL as a bun cage, my hair is 3.5” pony, and 30”, and mine compresses a bit. You may need to leave some of the wrapped hair out of the XL flexi, or use it for center held buns.

Hmmm. I think I can afford it, might go for a XL surprise and then do the Mega in one I like since I will likely grow into it.

Exactly my problem, I’ve been buying flexi’s for a long time and this change to a required bundle is very annoying because I just want the flexi in multiple sizes. This just makes me not purchase the bundles at all.

So quick question to those of you lovelies that have purchased a Main Event package. If the surprise item is a bobby pin or a stick. Do you get a pair of them or a single? I am like super afraid of getting another random stick or bobby from them. Having an odd single is like one of the most annoying things in the world to me.

I actually haven't ordered anything from Lilla Rose since January because this Main Event stuff has left such a bad taste in my mouth. But this clip is soo in my wheel house that I have been waffling back and forth on it all month. I actually would buy it in two different sizes if it was sold individually and not packaged with all the extra stuff.

I have a beautiful Flexi that I think I got about fifteen years ago. It's the perfect size for a low ponytail for me, but I don't do ponytails anymore because they don't do enough to prevent tangles. On rare occasions I've been able to just barely close it around a log roll, but it's really difficult and usually not feasible. Are there any hairstyles I could use it for that are more protective than a ponytail? And if I wanted to get a bigger one to be able to do more styles, how many sizes would I go up? I have waist-length, fine, dense, straight, slippery hair, and my current Flexi is a size L. (I put it on the innermost notch for a low ponytail.)

I use a size SMALL for my pony, but I have LARGE for all my updo's, by hair is pretty fine but I have a lot OF it, but it compacts down to nothing. If you can swing it, I'd get some variety of sizes, but Large and X-Large for sure. I'm looking to soon replace my XL because I was taking too long to grow into it, and I've FINALLY gotten to a place where I think I could use one again (IF it helps, it was a flexi I had in Large AND XL, friend had long hair did the "I break hair clips" thing.... and I thought she could benefit from ownership of said clip ;) )

If you are US and buying direct from Lilla Rose, LR does to exchanges!

there is some wiggle room too, I can still use a Medium in a pinch, for center held buns, but my cinnabun I can do the XL. My hair is thisclose to where I can call it waist (stretched, because curls... um maybe? I'm not measuring for the rest of the year LOL, just realized I don't really KNOW how close, or past waist IS, but it was CLOSE)
ETA FTA:
I'd say you may even be able to pull off an XXL for the flexi, but as it varies so much. your large may well still work for a tails up, but it might not work for other buns. You can dig around and find others here who make smaller flexis work still.

I have WL+ 30” fine slippery hair, with ponytail thickness that averages about 3.75”. I use a M or L for center held buns like the Spock or Lazy Wrap Buns. I use a XL to encase the entire bun of other style buns (I haven’t done the log roll though)

My hair is a bit too long for a tails-up, unfortunately. I basically end up with what looks like a shoulder-length ponytail, so I still get lots of tangles. I didn't know about the exchange policy on LR, though, so thank you for that information!

My hair measures about 32" long, and my ponytail circumference is about 3.5". I just did some experimenting, and I can't get my L to close around a lazy wrap bun, but I can get it to close around a Spock bun. I'll need some practice, though, because right now a Spock bun with a Flexi feels less stable than a Spock bun with a hair stick. Thank you for the suggestions!

Whaaaaat???!! Wow! I use a small for a ponytail and even then I need a hair elastic round the stick to stop it sliding down.

An XXL is a huge leap up from an XL, but an XL is not a huge difference from an L. I would guess an XL might work for a log roll, maybe a centreheld bun too. But I started using those at beyond classic length, and it was only at lower calf that I finally fitted into an XXL for whole buns  so I have no real concept of having as much hair as you - maybe an XXL would work for some buns already! (Are you sure you're a ii?)

My ponytail circumference is about 3.5", which I think makes me a ii. Maybe we're at different ends of the ii spectrum? And to be fair, when I did wore the L for a low ponytail, I did have to adjust it periodically. But that's been the case for every hair accessory I've ever used, so I've stopped seeing it as a problem and started seeing it as a fact of life.

Have you tried a cinnabun with it? That is how I use my smaller ones. I wind one and a half times and then insert the flexi and keep winding after that. I make sure that the last 2-3 winds are really tight so I don't have to use a upin to secure it. It holds all day and works with lots of "too small" type hair toys :) I think the Cameo Bun is also another one for small hair toys. Hmm...I can't think of anymore right now. Ponytail Nessa bun? You control the length of the ponytail by how many times you wind and then just pull the tail though the Nessa loop...

So the Squatching outfit is only black leggings, with a black long sleeve shirt, but I have a bleach dipped flannel shirt (it is meant to be a tucked in men's shirt... but I liked the colors, so I put it on a hanger mixed up bleach and dipped about 1/3-1/2 sleeves too, so it has greens and yellows (you can see non dipped colors in photo) Then I just toss on my yellow Dr Martens and we go squatching! (for those complete ists out there, the yellow docs have ribbon laces with a floral design on them! they don't really go with the flannel, but I'm too lazy to change them out all the time!) comfy and practical if one needs to run fast ><

Thanks on the hair color comments I LOVE my color with henna, not a huge fan of my natural color, which I probably like MORE now that it is greyed out more, honestly. However, I am IN LOVE WITH my henna'd color so it makes it hard every time I think I'll just go natural.... I think I've convinced my kids that they can help me henna until I'm ancient, because the color only gets better as the hair goes grey! and it gives me some burgandy swirls with copper accents (swoons over the coppers) Also I have a kiddo who understands the struggle with hair not being the color it "should" be (they like PINK) So I always have a dye buddy!

Strange! I remember that quite a lot was going on in the previous years. There was a new Flexi for... almost every year, or literally every year? And previous years' clips were making comebacks, including the pumpkin one which was very popular, as far as I remember.

How exciting!

I ordered 3 surprise flexi’s over time, and they all were very cute. All silver toned, which I prefer black or gold, and one with blue gems which I never wear blue  i gifted the blue one, and kept the others. The other two both have a heart design one with a flower, one wrapped with leather. I am out of my house so don’t have them on hand to snap a picture for you! Even though the silver toned is not completely my favorite, I will keep the clips and wear them when I randomly wear an outfit or jewelry that matches :o

Can you share a photo of what they send you? I am soooo curious

That's a pretty good haul for surprise Flexi's.

Chasemi, that’s a nice variety! Is there a black flexi at the bottom of the surprise ones, I am on mobile and can’t quite make it out :p

It's the xxs, it's dark brown and has beautiful stones throughout!

Hey all, I'm having some confusion regarding flexi clip sizes. I picked up a size M flexi clip recently. It's too small, but I'm unsure if I should size up to L or XL.

My thickness is just over 4", length is between collarbone and APL (recently cut off all my old henna). It's highly layered, layers beginning at ear level, so I have a smidge more thickness when they grow out (maybe half a dime size).

The medium barely fit a ponytail and was very difficult to fit into a tails-up, but possible (with effort).

If I want to do buns should get an XL?

In the future I'll be growing to MBL and probably longer layers, and I know for sure I'll need an XL then, but I'm not so sure about right now, at APL with layers. Just want to do a cinnamon bun style for now.

Suggestions?

I have just about HL (31”) length and probably a 3.5” ponytail with my bangs and face framing not included. My hairs are baby fine and compress quite a lot. I use the M for some center held buns (like the spock bun) and the XL more like a cage over cinnamon buns. There is a significant jump in size from the L to XL, but I have to read the clip/ inspect side by side to tell the difference between M and L. I like size L best, it seems most versatile to use for all buns, I just adjust where it’s going through the bun. It’s too loose for tails up for me.

Hope any of this is helpful for your decision! :flowers:

stardust lady, I agree with @rosenester. I have KL hair 2c/F/ii and have a L and XL. As she said, there is a significant jump between these two sizes and they both work for me depending on how I'm using them. The XL works well for "chunkier" buns on me since my hair also compresses a lot. When I joined here my circumference was 3.75" but lost some due to covid. I stopped measuring the circumference. Where your hair is measurably thicker, I'd recommend the XL. If it's not the right size for you, I think Lilla Rose does size exchanges, but not positive on that.

Thank you both for your input! I'm glad to hear that the large might work, based on your descriptions. I didn't really want to get an XL considering how huge it was. I had reached out to Lilla Rose and they suggested an XL but I think it might have been based on the fact that I mentioned I was growing. I'll just get a large so I can be happy now, and worry about getting an XL in the future.

4 inches is pretty thick! You will need an xl for sure when you grow out.
Maybe not yet since you said your hair is very layered...

I've gotten some very inexpensive ones used on ebay, just to try sizes and such,
You could always get both!

I did end up exchanging for a large and waiting for it to arrive. I will definitely check out used ones on eBay though! I didn't want to pay full price for both sizes since it is a little more costly for a clip, but I'm thinking I'll need an XL to cage a bun, even now, since my hair doesn't compress much. Would be nice to have both options. Also the medium was perfect for a half up so might be nice to look for one of those too. Thanks for the tip! After trying the first one, it felt pretty life changing - once I managed to get the clip on, even though it was too tight, it felt so amazingly relieving on my tender which is normally always in pain from any other type of clip.

What does everyone think of the new Eclipse flexi? I've already ordered a couple. They're perfect for helping me see on my way home. https://www.lillarose.com/collections/all-flexis/products/e-clipse-flexi

Has anyone used the sport flexis? I’m interested in those.

I have one and love it. They're grippy so they don't slip (and I have slippery hair). The Extra is the size I use and am easily able to fit all my hair into it for a pony or braid. It also works well for center held buns. YMMV since your hair is thicker than mine, which is 3.5" and compresses a lot. Different colors are available for the different sizes.

Thanks so much! I’m looking to secure a top knot so I’ll see what size works. The metal flexis tend to slip out of my hair so I’m very interested in the sport ones. Thanks!
