Gemruby that's really pretty!

I wore the Valentine Flexi in a folded braid yesterday, and i had a problem. I have other smalls and they hold a folded braid for me just fine (yes I know I have puny hair! :p ). But this small wants to slide down and pull. It's as though it's heavier than the others - which is the problem I experienced with minis with dangles, but I didn't think this dangle was enough to do that. I had to take the braid down after just a few hours. Anyone have any suggestions for this clip? I can't use it in a ponytail and I can't use it in a folded braid - what can i do with it?

rags it looks fabulous on you! Have you tried it on the center of a pencil or nautilus bun? You can try it on a French twist. Although it's hard to do a French twist if you are past BSL. You can try all sorts of half up buns if full updos is problematic for that piece.

ETA: Try it on a log roll! I think that will work best for it maybe.

Rags, some people have found wrapping a ponytail holder around the "stick" part of the flexi gives heavier ones better grip in the hair.

Rowie, it's a bit small for the center-held buns; I've been using mediums in those. A French twist though, maybe.......(I can still do them - puny hair again. It's getting harder though!). I'll look up a log roll too. Thank you!

That is weird. I too haven't had it happen to any of my other Flexis. But I've already heard back from Lilla Rose and they will happily exchange it for me. I'm really impressed with their customer service.

I will definitely post action pics when my order comes. I don't have a Flexi with wood beads or with a Celtic design yet. I'm super excited!!

I'm having a bit of bad luck with my recent Flexi order :( I ordered three November FOTM clips. In XS, Small and Large (to hopefully grow into).

The size small had a bent pin. Then I noticed that the size Large is missing one of the red crystals in the centerpiece. I again emailed Lilla Rose, and I'm certain I won't have a problem exchanging both clips. It's just a little odd.

I hope no one else has any problems with their November FOTM.

Sorry the picture is small. It may not look like that much of a difference. But the bend makes it very hard to fit together, it doesn't stay in place well at all. It just makes the whole clip not work right, and sit lopsided.

In my opinion, it would be weird if you had to pay full price for a LillaRose flexi on sale. It would be different if the same flexi was available for the regular price on flexi8.com.

My Festive Fallen Leaf flexi arrived yesterday! I'm wearing it today and it's soooo pretty. I'll try and take pictures at some point (and of my other flexis too), but I haven't had the energy to spare for hair pics recently, so we'll see how I manage.

I recently ordered some past FOTM's and was able to use the code. I was told to pick flexi's that were the same price, and add a note to switch to the FOTM's. I placed the order using the code. I'm wearing one of them today. I love this one!

That is strange, I've always been able to use the blu code (instead of the 5th flexi free), for customs and for lillarose swapitems.
I usually order through Kate, but that should not make any difference.

Gorgeous!! I've been wanting that rose flexi in all copper for months, but I was unsure about how it would look. Now that I see how beautiful it looks on you, I think I may be ready to get it. Copper suits my hair colour better than silver :)

Faellen, it really sucks that you've been treated differently. Like Eresh, I've used the blue-code on all my flexis, even on customs and LillaRose flexis. No one said a word about it. I've had to pay a custom request fee of $5 several times, but I've never had to pay back any discounts. :(

What size you need depends on what you use it for. If you're covering a whole bun with it you need one larger than the Flexi site recommends. If you want to use it as a pony-tail holder, you need smaller. You look like a large to me, but it's really hard to tell. If you get the wrong size, they are very good about returns and exchanges although it will cost a bit of postage.

Yep, that is correct. I still have the emails from Steve. His exact words were:

"The Flexi8 discount code is not applicable to Lilla Rose items. Lilla Rose runs it's own periodic sales and promotions."

So I actually had to PayPal them the $2.10 difference, lol! Obviously I'm a bit miffed now reading that other people haven't had to do this too :-/ when I next try to order a Lilla Rose flexi via the Flexi-8 site I am sure going to take this up with them!

I did a pinless braided bun with one of my XLs, and though it works, the XL is definitely too big. So I just ordered this pretty (http://www.flexi8.com/2377.html?id=xwwQdCPP) in size L. Yeah, I know. I'm addicted to flexis and a sucker for sapphire beads. :couch:
This does make me very happy, and to be completely honest, also very relieved. I've been getting increasingly worried that having knee length or longer would be impossible because my hair is so thick, and already some buns are starting to be heavy. With this one, I can't even feel that my hair is up. Even when my hair is insanely long, it will still be possible to get it up and out the way with relative ease. I think I'll be able to use size L for this type of bun for a very long time, since it's only placed in the center and not around the bun. :)

I would suggest an XL if you want the flexi to go through and support the entire bun, or an L for a center held/center supported bun (if you slide it under the center of a nautilus bun for example, it will keep the bun stable and fit there with your length, thickness and texture I'm guessing).

I would suggest an XL if you want the flexi to go through and support the entire bun, or an L for a center held/center supported bun (if you slide it under the center of a nautilus bun for example, it will keep the bun stable and fit there with your length, thickness and texture I'm guessing).

Keeping in mind, the evening light is blue and could be brighter and the wig is a bit more ashy than your colour, but here's what I think. Top to bottom, the copper pops, but not necessarily in a good way. The antique brass (as gold as I've got) looks great. It blends, true, but has a rich look. The silver is neutral, no problem there, and the black nickel is nice too.

The results of my very incomplete experiment leaves me to think that gold would be stunning your golden blonde hair (enable, enable), especially an antiquey-looking gold like that blue one Kittybird's sporting on the previous page. Hopefully a real blonde with a gold flexi or two will pipe up add some real data.

Well I ordered from a German site (I live in Europe, the real flexi8 site would cost me a lot extra). But I had the last one from that sort so I can't find a picture anymore. And when I look at my orders on my account, there's only text. So I don't have a picture :p

But it's a golden one with some pearls and in the middle there's a sort of a fairy. The wings of the fairy are like crystals, if you know what I mean. Really pretty! But I really hope Large is not too small!

I apologize for the somewhat low-light and weirdly-angled photo (it is surprisingly hard to take a picture of the back of your head), but I tried to correct the lighting and sharpen it a bit in Pixlr (not much could be done to correct my jaundiced-looking neck). I was rather worried that it'd be too large for me, but it works perfectly in center-held buns! I think that a large would've worked as well, but I don't think I'll be out-growing this size any time soon. It really is gorgeous and I can't wait to get more!

It seems a lot of people are between the large and the extra large, because of the big jump, maybe it´s time for them to get an extra size in between them.

In my first flexi order I had no idea what size I should have, so I ordered one extra small, one small, one medium and one large, thinking that I could use the small ones for half ups and the big one for buns. But the large was too small for buns. Now I have ordered two extra larges. (http://www.flexi8.com/0207.html?id=BDGBKh8X and http://www.flexi8.com/2380.html?id=BDGBKh8X) But reading from other posters about the big jump between large and extra large, I fear they will be too big, because the large was just a bit too small.

My package arrived Saturday, but I had to go pick it up today at the postoffice.
I had to pay customcharges after all :-( Too bad. Could have been an extra XL flexi.

Just a warning though, this piece sold out the first day it was released, and so it is a very difficult piece to get. eresh had a hard time getting this piece and I think she is very lucky that one was held for her. Thank you for the tips about facebook. I haven´t thought about that. I managed to get a flitter into fall large but find it to small and would like to switch to an extra large, so maybe I have a chance to find someone else who would like to switch..

I think you might be able to find a large, one was held for me while they searched for an XL.
It took quite a while but they found a left-over XL :-)
So I didn't take the L.

Oh and a tip from Steve:

My novemberflexi had some bare wireloops on the back, where hairs got stuck too .
He told me a great trick to fix this, I think you all can benefit from this too if you ever have exposed wire ends.
"Get some clear silicone rubber sealant, (It's what is used to seal showers and windows etc.)
Cover the exposed wire bit with a dab of the silicone and let it dry overnight.
It smells bad when it's wet, but not at all when dry. This will put a nice smooth cover of flexible rubber over the spot."

Flexi is working on a re-design to clamp the centerpieces on XL and mega's, to fix this issue in the future :-)

It looks like you have a similar type hair to my housemate, just a bit thinner and bit longer(which would probably balance out in term of bun volume.) If you're going to use a flexi for updos and the like, I'd suggest getting a L, which is what she has opted for. It sucks cause you're in Europe which would make exchanging it if the size is wrong hard (even though flexi seems to be super helpful about that.)
Plus, since you're growing your hair it would probably be better to "round up" and get the bigger of the two size you're deciding between so you're less likely to outgrow it. :)

I just want to mention that in real life, flexi's are a LOT smaller than you think they will be :) I have 24" hair and am ii/iii thickness, and I use an XL for a bun.

Wow, it's a crazy idea with this stick but I think it will work :D I must try this method before ordering.
Now I'm waiting for a reply from LR, maybe they have any flitter into fall or autumn's ruby bouquet left for me. I think they don't :) So I'll wait for new flexis - I have a lot of time to choose my flexi8 size, and every suggestion will be welcomed. I thought the flexi of the month only came out on the 1st of every month, so on Dec. 1st you'll want to go to the lilla rose page to order it if you want it.

It should go up on the flexi site at the same time right? I'd hate to tell you wrong! And I think faellen said earlier she was put off by the customs charges, so for international LHCers, if you have a consultant ask them to mark it as a 'gift' when they post it and maybe even mark down the value of the item too... It's a bit cheeky I admit but after just paying £13 ($21) customs charges on a single stick a couple of weeks ago, I'm feeling less than generous towards the postal service right now :lol:

Oh I should note as well if anyone was wondering, the FoTM picture we've seen in this thread is showing a size Small :) I can't share a picture of the different sizes yet but if anyone is desperate to know how the beads are arranged in different sizes feel free to give me a shout or PM and I'll do my best to explain how they're done for each size... Perhaps this may help a bit, Renaissance, although not a half-up photo.

This is a photo of my 3a, fine wavy/wurly/sometimes curly:laugh: hair being held with a medium flexi. I had made a loose french braid and tucked it under at the nape of my neck and then secured it with the flexi. It held for the entire day and didn't squish my curls at all.

Just the large, which still holds a cinnabun for me. If I outgrow it, then it will work for a wrap bun. I might go for a mini later, but I want to see what it looks like first.

This flexi will look so great with your silver hair! I am aiming to get an XL and maybe a mini depending on how it looks on the site. I don't like when the centerpiece overpowers the mini, so we will see. :o

I'm exactly the same and having seen the mini I skipped it, just a heads up it's pretty OTT imho, I was a bit disappointed as I really fancied a mini or xs for half ups but hey ho! Still a very happy bunny with what I've got ordered :)

I actually went for a Small :) I wanted a Mini as well, for half ups but as you know, I changed my mind. I was tempted to get a Large but I have 2 already and they get neglected a little as I tend to wear a LWB or Nautilus and I love the look of a Small holding the center, as opposed to a Large mostly covering it* :applause

In my honest opinion the XS doesn't look overpowered but it does miss out the middle (aurora) bead shown in the pic on this thread... The pic with all 3 beads is a Small, if that helps you at all. The Medium doubles up on the first bead, the tiny blue one. :whistle:



*once my hair thickens back up (yay hair loss) I'll likely graduate to a Medium and XL respectively but as that's a long time away right now, I'll worry about it when I get to it :lol:

Haha thanks :p it makes me a little sad really but I'm seeing a lot of improvement at scalp level already :) My ponytail circ. used to be a nice comfy average 3" but it's down to a 'hair' (get it?) under 2" nowadays (gotta love Trich). I wouldn't mind the thinness if it was even, grr. I have a ton of baby hairs coming in but they'll take a while to grow down my length obviously, so for now my buns are pretty petite! Plus I must admit my hair is placid, it usually behaves for me :lol: I need to play around with a few different buns, I recently got the disc bun working for me, so I must try it with a flexi. I'm avoiding braided buns still, because of my thin braid they don't seem to sit right or hold well, maybe I'm not doing something right, who knows... The megas are pretty monstrous in size but I think with your thickness for certain styles it would actually work :) When you get to TB you'll definitely be in a mega, I'll put money on it! ;)

I found mine when I was tracking down a Dec 2012 FoTM (Winters Gift) and loved her so I've just stuck with her since :) It could be the way forwards! :p
