I haven't noticed much difference as far as top versus lower parts of my skull, but the left side of my skull has slightly more hair than the right, always has. It's noticeable only to me, and then only when I do a style that requires parting my hair down the middle.
I also think either my hair is slightly thinner than it was in my twenties (I'll be 41 in January), or my daughter (age 24) has thicker hair than I ever did (either is equally possible), because her hair is just a bit thicker than mine, despite hers being pin-straight where mine has a slight wave. So probably, if we were both to wear our hair loose, people would probably perceive our hair to be about equal in thickness, but hers is somewhat thicker than mine. (And of course, I wish mine would lie as flat as hers, and she wishes hers would have some texture; the grass is always greener, after all. )
