Day 5- I wore my hair in two little bunish things for the morning, and then came home, did some cleaning, and found some of my old hairtoys that I thought I had gotten rid of, and ended up putting it up in a twist. I was pretty happy!

Tomorrow is washday, so I have my hair all oiled up in a bun to sleep in tonight.

I have worn my hair up every day since Jan 2006 bar two occasions a year. I have to say it is theonly way I can keep long hair.
I don't know how to do a bun or anything other than a plait. I wear in one or two plaits over my shoulders and down my front.

And now it's time for my litany. As I've been learning for my exams, I tried not to spend a lot of time here, because if I'll log in "just for a while" I am likely to stay for few hours:D But yesterday I have passed the most important exams for me- oral basic and oral extended English exams. 100% and 100%. I am so happy and proud of myself. Maybe I shouldn't but I've been working hard for 10 years for this. I have already passed 7 out of 9 of my exams ;)

Day 44- clipped up
Day 45- clipped up
Day 46- ballerina bun
Day 47- my friend's mum's updo;) It's a bun pulled up over the elastic band. Very ellegant.
Day 48- clipped up; later, at night, I had my hair down (ups), as I was on a concert:rockerdud
Day 49- Edwardian updo! It's my new favorite hairstyle. After almost a half of a journey finally I have discovered something new!
Day 50- Edwardian updo with braids. Half of my challenge!

Day 54- sleeping braid; in the evening- two ponytails with headband made from a piece of tapestry from florist's shop. It changes it's colour, depending on light, from navy blue to dark red. I love it;) Too bad I didn't pin it well and it slid down when I was running. Fortunately I didn't lose it, I noticed that it slid and put it into my bag.
Day 55- oily; clipped up
Day 56- I was late, so ballerina bun again
Day 57- fake french braid
Day 58- it'll be funny. I was playing with my hair, trying to fix on my own hair hairstyles from YouTube tutorials which I liked ;)

Day 65- crown braid. I wanted to look professional and elegant during the most importsnt exams- oral English, basic and extended, as I said.
Day 66- Today!- french braid clipped up as I have a lot of coconut oil on my ends;) But it is really nice french braid, I tried to add very small strands of hair. I'd take a picture but my hair is too oily, yestarday was a wash day but I was too tired.

As a little "yup this is one of the reasons I love doing this" note, I was at rehearsal yesterday, and I had to switch out hairtoys (I forgot I had to faint, and I was not about to fall on the floor wearing my NightBlooming hummingbird ketylo stick LOL, so I put in my plain copper MairzyDozy fork), and everyone let out a gasp a my hair fell, including one girl who had NEVER seen my hair down! Everyone was in awe at how long and shiny ad lovely my hair was. Oh the compliments! I must admit, I did revel in it a bit and smiled, but then it was back in an updo and onto the floor with me LOL

Day 76- eventually it was nautilus bun, braided nauti bun, cross bun, braided cross... I had to fix it from time to time, my hair is still to short for stable buns with hairsticks.
Day 77-today- cinna bun with wooden hairsticks. Originally they belong to a kind of pin, made from leather, half-round, with two holes, I don't know how it's called in English:) Somehow I have one pin and two sticks, so I can use them as a haisticks, they are long enough:)

I wish I could do them. My hair is very long, but if I don't wind it tightly when I put it in a bun, it slips down.

I am totally new to wearing my hair up on a regular basis...but after wearing it up all week (well, since Tuesday!) I am finding I rather like it.

My longest layers in the back are just about APL; but there are numerous shorter layers which range from shoulder to jaw, plus some growing out bangs that are at the awkward stage where they are too long to be bangs but too short to be hair. Hence my fondness for headbands and scarves of late...

Day #1: Cinnabun held with fake ficcare -- cute headband holding back bangs & uncooperative layers
Day #2: High sock bun w/ mini clips to hold down layers
Day #3: Double french braids that join at back into single french braid
Day #4: Low sock bun w/ scarf
Day #5: Double french braids joining in back, with crocheted scarf

I'm trying to wear my hair up until my SIL's wedding on June 20th, as a way to prevent me from doing anything stupid to my hair regarding cut or color in the meantime. All of my hair is in an awkward stage regarding layers, length and color (recovering from the Great Henna Misadventure) so it is a constant temptation to try to "fix" it which usually results in making matters worse.

I am finding I actually like wearing it up, however -- it is nice having it out of the way. I've always worn it down and it is large and wavy and out of control so this is a new concept to me.

Putting your hair in protective updos using non-damaging hair ties or hair sticks can save your hair from a lot of damage which is caused by leaving it down.

I know that's the belief here, neon-dream, but my hair doesn't seem to get damaged while down and wearing it up a lot lately has been stressing it. I've mostly been wearing my hair down for 40+ years. It's very long, strong, and healthy.

I was wondering how wearing one's hair down damages it.

But really, this is off-topic, so carry on with your hair-style posts! I check them daily for ideas.

Day 93 - cinnabun with stick and flowers

I am doing the challenge to (1) see if my splits decrease, though I've never felt that I have that many, (2) to try to decrease the amount of taper I have in my length, (3) to protect ends that are more damaged from harsher treatment several years ago (and not have to chop them off!), and (4) to see if the shorter sections near my temples are from damage from straps, seatbelts, etc. or if they are just a shorter terminal length there. No way to know if I'll see any difference unless I try it and make a change to my routine over a long-term period.

I also find I'm more likely to try and learn more updos if I am "forced" to, and then I'm more likely to be able to wear something really pretty when I have an "updo-type event."

If you're happy with everything about your hair and not seeing any kind of damage, then you really wouldn't need to encourage yourself to wear it up more with a challenge. :) Overall, I love my hair and think it is in pretty good shape for how I've treated it, but I am curious to see if it could be better!
