I've been wearing my hair up every day, 24/7. I've noticed that my hair is breaking out of my night braid every night. Last night I wore my hair loose to bed and there were almost no tangles this morning. Usually my hair is very tangled every morning. I've broken a lot of hairs at between eye and jaw level and I think the culprit is my night braid.

I might just start with doing it for the rest of this month (so like 3 weeks) to see how I like it. I'm sure I'll have no problem getting it up on the days I work, but on my days off I'll have to make sure to not be lazy/forget. After the month is over, I'll re-determine if it's something I want to continue.

Day 4: Another (badly done) twisted crown braid set into a low bun with a claw clip this time. Tried to fix the twist braids a few times but it's just not getting better (hair doesn't have much grip) and I need to start my paper!

Wash day today. Air drying while down and then high bun with spin pins. Slept in a french braid courtesy of my boyfriend last night, this was his second try EVER braiding anything!! Can you believe it? Love that man... Forgive the disaster in my bedroom, finals week and I'm just too overwhelmed...

Right now, I have a very basic bun on top of my head. My hair is between apl and bsl so not a lot of options... yet.

It looks kinda silly, but I'm about to brave the communal apartment laundry room anyway. I've always had a thing about doing my hair perfect before going out, but since I'm trying to restore its health, I just have to get used to handling it less.

I'll join in (for a month I think) as I need some motivation to learn new updos. I have a few temporary problems - due to EDS my shoulders are unhappy and I can't hold my arms to braid behind my head. So limited french or dutch braiding which I'm terrible at anyway. I also tend to lean my head back on things a lot, and need to wear a sun hat a lot (Australia, Dec = hot and sunny), so expect lots of english side braids. I can't get buns to hold with sticks yet, and I lack other toys so buns will have to be based on a ponytail until further notice.

Tomorrow: Something with minimal skin contact because it's going to be over 40C

Today, due to a multi-day nasty headache, I couldn't keep my hair in its usual forked cinnabun; it was causing tension in all the wrong places. So, I did two English braids, crossed them across the back, ticket the ends, and pinned and clipped them. It looks like a nifty low flat bun and changed up the pull enough that it didn't bother me.

I have a weird twisty-bun-thing I do with half-moon claw clips that I really like, though, so I think I'll just try to go every day with that for a month.

If you have any neat updo breakthroughs for SL+ hair, do share! :)

At this length because my hair is fairly thin I haven't messed much with French or Dutch braids because so little hair is "left" at the end, it ends up just being this tiny little tail that catches on my shirt collars. I got a taste of the future though before I trimmed -- about 2-3 more inches and they'll look thicker! :)

Edit: And as far as the tuck-in idea, I like the look but for some reason it always bothers the nape of my neck. #tenderhead

Day 27 and 28: a lazy wrap bun for each day. They're just sooo easy and quick to put up and they stay so nicely, that I'm stuck on this bun right now!

Day 29: an English braid.

Day 30: Yesterday's braid that I slept in and left for a little while, and then down to detangle and take some length photos finally (yay), and now I put it up in a pansy bun after seeing last month's hairstyle of the month. I have no idea what it looks like because I haven't checked it out in a mirror, but it's holding really well!

That's stunning! I love how sculptural it looks.

I have one more hour and I will have worn my hair up for 12 hours without messing with it -- an accomplishment since I usually fiddle with my hair, run my hands through it, and redo updos constantly, haha.

Wow, you get such wonderful poofiness with your buns! I wish I could do that but instead of poofing my hair just parts itself and lays flat on either side.

I'd say braids, I've gotten the impression that I get a lot more hair shedding when I comb my hair after a night with buns versus a night with braids, when I get almost none.

I usually sleep with a braid, but due to my short layers when I wake up it has fallen apart, I used to sleep with bun but I worry about breakage with buns, and I worry about the braid falling apart all the time when I sleep. But I think that I agree with what you said about the tangles, they're less present when I braid... Thank you!
