    Default Banned member viewing?

The other day I saw a banned member in the list of people online. I thought that someone who's banned can't log in?

It means they've tried and failed to log in.

    I noticed it too.

Surely to be named on the online list you have to be logged in? I can't remember the name; if I see it again I'll make a note.

I think they have to log in to see that they are banned. I am pretty sure I saw that in a post somewhere... I could be TOTALLY wrong, however.

Go me! I found a thread that already existed, instead of starting a new thread by asking an old question. But it doesn't seem like this got answered in this thread, at least not with any certainty.

I notice banned members online a lot, and I'm really curious about how that all works. Anyone know?

ETA: Oh geez. Just found THIS even older one, which does answer the question. Nevermind.
