Gender expression will influence which styles people often choose, but I don't think gender identity would necessarily.
I was curious if gender influenced the styles we choose.

I suppose rather than gender is the culture you live in and your ethnic background. In some cultures it'll probably be quite normal for a man to wear braids or pigtails meanwhile in others you'll rarely see any long haired man at all, and the same with women. It also depends on your age, in some cultures it is expected for young people to wear it loose and for older people to wear it up in a bun. As enting said gender expression will influence the styles people chose mostly if they chose to fit in their culture/ethnic stereotypes (nothing bad with that).
With all that said, I don't think my gender influences my go-to style much. I go mostly for loose hair with my bangs pinned back or a simple ponytail but my hair is also quite short at the moment.

I suppose my go-to style is an English braid which I consider to be gender-neutral even in western culture.
Although I am definitely of the opinion that people should wear whatever styles they want regardless of what gender they're commonly associated with.

Past year? A Nautilus bun, for sure!
I also wear my hair in an English braid. It’s unusual to see guys with long hair here, and I could see them putting it in a ponytail more than a braid, but unless it was pigtails I wouldn’t be surprised. Not sure why though.
I also tend to pin it up, but that’s about being practical. If my hair is down I am more likely to play with it. I don’t think it as likely that a guy would put their hair up in a coronet, but in a bun or doubled back on itself would be possible. I could be falling back on a stereotype though: most of the guys I know couldn’t get their hair long enough to pin a braid up.
uh....right now a hat!!!!!

A disc bun secured with a stick or a flexi. I need change.
Half up, because it's still too short for anything interesting. I would like to experiment more when it's longer though and no, I won't care for gender.
