Sulphates only to clarify because they make my scalp drier but silicones very regularly.

My scalp & hair have been on a crazy journey i began to have SD in 2012 and NOTHING worked. I hated steriod creams H&S Selsun Blue nothing worked so i went no poo from 2013 to 2016 it got a lot better but still gave me trouble. So i just decided to go back to shampoo & got the Classic H&S. I just thought i would have to live with it being bad like this forever. But being no poo helped me go longer between washes and decided i was going to try going a full 7 days as oppose to the usual 4 which has worked. I cant tell you how or why but i RARELY get flare ups & no itchy scalp
I voted no and no. Sulfates make me shed a lot and my scalp prefers gentler cleaning so I don’t use them (with the exception of a very rare Nizoral scalp only wash). When I have used silicones in the past my hair has reacted very badly to them and these days I don’t use a lot of conditioner anyway so I avoid them. I plan on growing my hair very long though so I’m open to the possibility that silicones might be something to revisit on the length down the line if tangling becomes an issue.

My fine silver loves them!
No issues or tangles = win-win
I use sulfates daily (scalp-only or bang-only washes), and I can't use silicone conditioners. The silicones in conditioners seriously mess up my hair and make it tangle, and I've tried many different types... the only place I can use silicones is in my serum, otherwise my hair will freak out.
Sulfates, silicone free conditioners, and silicone serums. This hasn't failed me over the past almost two years!

If it ain't broke, don't fix it, right?
I use sulfates when I really need to clarify- which is like once of twice a year.
I shampoo twice with undiluted strong sulphate shampoo, follow up with a heavy silicone hair mask, and finally top it all off with a silicone serum, every time I wash. Sulphates keep my flakes at bay, silicones keep the cobwebs away.
I use sulfates occasionally. My usual hair wash is just scalp and roots with sulfate free shampoo. When I’ve oiled my hair heavily, I wash it out with sulfates, and sometimes before Olaplex I just like to clear out everything with a sulfate shampoo.
Silicones I avoid altogether. They don’t work for my hair.
