Default Has any one tried the hair porosity test ?

Did anyone ever try the hair porosity test and if so is it accurate ?
I tried it and my hair strand just stayed on top
I still do not know what this means whether I have low or high porosity hair

I used to do this stuff all the time I personally don't think it told me much about my hair (after all, these are considered rough estimates).

    But, according to this test:
Hair sinking to the bottom = high porosity
Floating in the middle or so = normal porosity
Hair floating on top = low porosity

Keep in mind that porosity levels do vary around the head, so it's recommended to get a strand from some different areas in order to see a more clear picture. Again though, in my experience, I found out a lot more by just experimenting with moisturizing/conditioning ingredients etc. and seeing for myself how my hair takes to it. Best of luck!

I forget why, I'm sure others can fill you in, but that test is notoriously undependable. It gives skewed results.

Generally, if you have all virgin hair, you probably have normal porosity. If it is heat styled, dyed/bleached, then that would be higher porosity. Low porosity is extremely rare as that is in effect hair that will not take chemical services. I see so many, so so so many say they have "low porosity", when in effect they are saying their hair is in a way problematic, as in: won't take dye or perms. I think most people saying they have low, actually really mean to say they have normal porosity.

You can sort of deduct from where your hair is at.
And I think *that* is much more dependable than any cup test!

Yeah I was thinking it was crap because there was another time I did it and my hair sank to the bottom of the cup so it left me really confused . Thanks for posting the link
