hello from new-ish sort of person

Hello everyone, I've lurked on and off for ages, and I apparently made this account an untold number of years ago, but I don't think I ever once used it?? I've always wanted to push the length limit for my hair, but I tend to get annoyed with it when life gets stressed and I chop it all off. But the planets are aligned so I'm trying again.

My hair is super straight and fine and thin, somewhere between soft black and ash brown (and greys lol). I've got a lot of the typical problems associated with this type, being both oily and dry simultaneously, dandruff, etc. I've also got an autoimmune disorder and have dealt with malnutrition at times; most recently I've been correcting a B6 deficiency for many moths (happy to say my hair is improved!). I can't really tell you the length, because my last haircut was a mohawk

, so the longest parts are just shy of 10 inches, but the sides are only about 5.

My primary goal is just to get the texture/health of my hair as nice as possible and to stop breakage/flyaways... but my "stretch goal" is to see how long I can get it! 20 years ago it was about BSL, but I've never got it to grow much past shoulder since then...hopefully we can change that now.

Welcome, and I hope you'll find the support you need here. My hair in the past was like your hair now, but it did grow eventually!

Welcome ukoku! You are in good company here. I've been growing for a very long time and have had some health stuff setbacks too. I went through about a month debating whether I wanted to just shave my head or commit to growing to unforeseen (for me) lengths, and now I'm here to just go for it! Grow on!
