Default At what length did you decide that you had long hair?

I'm coming up on one year without trimming (entirely by accident), and a couple of months ago I looked in the mirror and thought, "Huh. That's some pretty long hair. How'd that happen?" My hair was (and still is) a little bit past TBL. This also happened to coincide with people starting to tell me, "Wow--you have so much hair!" I feel like I passed some kind of invisible line between "long...but still normal" and "unusual length."

At what length did you start considering your hair as "long"? How did you react?
And when did other people start commenting on the length of your hair?

    These questions have different answers.
I do know that most of the people in real life consider long hair from BSL down more or less. On me, I felt I had long hair for real for real around TBL. I think there is a logic reason, that is the length where my hair begins to be more in the way and also the routine change. The texture becomes way looser, and this impacts all the styling process (on me, at least!) and at the same time everything becomes smoother for the weight. I've always had long-ish (for not LHCers standards) hair, but around TBL is where I can feel my hair a lot more. And I put it up way more often than before.
I received the first comments about my hair length when I was around BCL. I find kinda funny how a lot of people assume that my long hair comes from a fast growth and a good genetic, since my hair is less than average in both fields.

For me it was my current length, WL. My hair did not seem long, to me, until it hit my waist.

Hurray! I've reached tailbone length! Last trim 1-2-23.

My hair is not long yet
I'm a few centimetres away from BSL and it doesn't feel long to me.
Funny, because usually when I talk with " normal" people and mention that I want to grow my hair long, I'm getting comments : but your hair is already long.
    Not by LHC standards!

I started getting comments past BSL, I think. Which seemed odd to me, because I feel like people in my circles frequently have BSL, just not much past it. I'm not the best judge, because I used to have maybe BCL, and then cut it to shoulder and am regrowing it from there, and I got a lot of comments from people who know me about my length back then and now, so I kind of roll them together in my head. I'm just the person who has the longest hair of everyone me.
Personally, I agree with GoatLady, waist is when my hair started to feel long to me, and getting close to that was when I started getting the most comments. But I've never had random people walk up and comment on my hair. I think that's another level of long I haven't unlocked yet.

The first time some strangers commented my hair length was few months ago. I received more comments when I had blue/violet hair (apl-waist range) back in 2017/2018.

I have always had long hair because of benign neglect more or less, but it started to feel long at around classic. At that length I had to wrap it around my neck when going to the bathroom

About MBL (mid-back length), I think at the halfway point to classic length, which was my goal. I have since cut back, though (I had so much breakage and thinning due to bunning my hair entirely the wrong way).

Hopefully I can answer this question before the end of this year.
    BSL -> MBL -> WL (almost) -> Hip->TBL!

Once I was growing past BSL I began to feel that my hair was *getting long*. When I actually measured a shed and it was more than 30 inches I was *sure* my hair was long. Waist length is about 32 or so. I'd been wearing it up as soon as I was able to so nobody knew how long my hair was, but my bun is so small (thin fine hair) that when people saw how long it was they were quite surprised.
