Yep, a couple times of bleach can do a number on you! It's a good time to experiment on how to "tame" it a bit and get some normalcy back, and the recommendation for that Joico product, yes, take it!

I have a friend that's a huge DNA and "self-hacking" nerd, and he ordered me one of those Ancestry DNA kits as a gift and told me that when I get the results, to upload it to this site called Promethease. Well, it took a few months but I uploaded my DNA recently and have just started looking through it. I didn't realize it would contain so many physical traits. At one point I typed "hair" into the search bar, and it showed so many genes that control hair color and texture and thickness. I didn't look through all of it, but I thought it was really interesting to see that I had two copies of a gene for straight hair, and two copies of a gene for curly hair. I suppose this is what makes wavy hair. Super interesting!

Cross-posting, but I'm just so happy with how my hair is looking after adding a cold water rinse to my wash routine.

Beautiful waves. I’m so jealous of the waves in this thread. I wish my hair was wavy!!

That’s really cool makes me tempted to try it now. I’ve always wondered my percentage of getting wavier hair, it would probably make me sad though haha.

It took me a long time, up until my mid 20s to really appreciate my waves instead fighting with them.

Good for you! I was in my 30s. Oh well, never too late, I guess.
