I added more lines to my shirt and, of course, I messed them up. But I can tell what is what, I just probably don't want anyone else to see it.

Still get lots of suds and nice clean hair but no scalp itchies.

Or you could use a "low poo" shampoo? I think Tresemme does one. Paula from Paula's Choice talks about how lots of sulphates like SLES and ALS are gentler than SLS so you could try that?

I tried sulphate-free and CO and other stuff for ages before I went back to regular ol' diluted shampoo and I've never been so glad to give something up! Everyone is different.

Oh, and I'm at shoulder, and my hair is so curly at this length that it's going to be forever till APL. Ah well, at least it's started growing down now rather than out.
I wonder if shampoo is different than it once was. Up until a year ago I just bought whatever was on sale or was the cheapest and every once in a while I might have splurged on a higher cost shampoo. I never noticed anything happening to my hair that seemed to be from the shampoo. Then I began trying to heal my immune system and that got me interested in using fewer chemicals and I have washed my hair with mud, honey, baking soda and now soap. I have incorporated vinegar with all those things. I still have not tried eggs. I don't think what I do is any better than what others do(maybe healthier for me, I'm not sure).....I'm just wondering why I was never bothered by any of the commercial shampoos.

    Hrmph...

So, I picked my niece up for soccer practice this evening, she couldn't find an elastic to put her hair up, so I gave her one of mine from the purse. She then says to me: why do you even have these, is your hair even long enough to put up?

I say yes, I can manage a pony tail. haha

Well, I think most people aren't bothered by shampoo - at least no worse than having slightly dry hair - otherwise they would be different. As far as I can tell, for people who aren't sensitive (and there are plenty who are, but they're a minority) won't get anything worse than a bit of dryness and increased sebum production.

For me, diluting takes care of both those issues (plus plenty of conditioner). But I don't have dry hair; I suspect the dryness issue is much worse if you do.

Still, I'd like to try making my own shampoo out if soapnut shells sometime, just to see what it's like.

I like my sulfate free salon brand shampoo (Mediceuticals Folligen) well enough and still have about 300 grams of that suff left, it usually gets my hair pretty clean, I think, if I don't put any leave ins or anything in, it takes me 2 months to get noticable buildup, and it's really gentle. I used to use their condish as well (Vitatin) but ran out of it and bought a Russian made cone free botanicals heavy cheapy, and I actually like it a lot, it's runnier and leaves hair less coated feeling. And smells of birch!

And I envy curls with all my being!

I started using the Localoc Bandette (French Twist comb) from Wal-Mart to put my hair up in a bun or twist. It works really well for my length. I don't use the rubber band that came with it. Since it keeps my hair up so well I find that I don't mess with it as much and I'm hoping to forget about it more. Maybe it will grow while I am not looking.

I am happy that I can send my copper comb back for repair.....I need to get to the P.O. and get it mailed.

I ordered a couple of things during the Lilla Rose sale.
Haha, in anticipation of hair growth.

I hope that my trim doesn't send me too far from my goal... I'm afraid that I might not reach apl by December, or even January >__>

Reminder for everyone, that these shorter lengths are very good time to start practicing braiding of different types! Braids are much easier to manage at this length, and when one learned early at the growing journey, the skills will grow with the hair.

My latest braids I've been working (re-learning after years of not using them) are 4-strand braids, both round and flat versions. Anyone interested in some braiding challanges?

1st rule of LHC. Have toys before having length.
WCC method (washing) --- Rinse-out oil (MO) --- LOC/LCO method (styling)
