Hello and welcome!
I have been growing my hair from shoulder length for about one year. My hair was almost to my waist when I was in high school. It was pretty, but I washed it every morning and then used a blow dryer to dry it as quickly as possible. Needless to say, I had a lot of split ends. When my friend got her cosmetology license, she convinced me to let her cut it. I kept it about shoulder length for the next ten years. I let it grow a bit after the birth of my first son, then cut it back to shoulder length. I recently decided that I miss my long hair and I want to grow it again. My husband would like me to cut it, but I am going to ignore him and do what I want. This time I am babying it and it is still in great condition. Last spring I went for a trim and she trimmed way too much, so I haven't been back. I trimmed it a little myself and I know the ends need it again, but I would like to wait a few more months before having someone else do it. Anyway, I thought I would introduce myself in the forum. I am enjoying being part of this online community!

WO/SO due to scalp hating EVERYTHING! Slowly regrowing from a massive shed and trimming often to keep the ends healthy.
Hello and welcome!
Welcome! And you go, girl; do what *you* want!
There are no trimming challenges on this board, you could join the one for 2018 (for 2017 it's too late, it's the calendar year). You don't need to go to a hairdresser that much (at least not every 6 to 8 weeks like they say).
Try and look up Feye's self-trimming method! It is a huge help for self-trimming!
Hello and welcome!! I did the same, in respects to ignoring my husband's preferences, but that was when I had a pixie for 4 years But honestly what mattered with that was I was doing wit my hair what I wanted to.
There are threads for the growing milestones, which I've found to be a great spot to talk about the woes of certain lengths and excitement for the next milestone, plus to exchange tips and tricks for hairstyles to make the days pass more enjoyably!
Maintaining at Hip-BCL for now.

Welcome! It's your hair, so I definitely agree to ignore your husband! You have to do what makes you happy first, worry about others second.
Welcome!

I looked it up and it seems easy to do. I'll have to get some good hair scissors and try it soon.
I bought some new hair scissors and looked up Feye's self-trimming method. I really like how it turned out!
