    I agree with the gelatin mask. She may or may not like coconut oil, my hair hated it when it was damaged. Also hated olive oil. It loved avocado oil, but her hair is very different from mine. I would have her experiment with a few basic oils overnight to see if her hair likes it. Often oils worked better for me mixed with a store bought conditioner, as a mask I would leave on for an hour (ish). When my hair was totally wrecked, from doing something similar to her, I used to mix hydrolyzed keratin (like the kind they put in dyes, neutral protein filler) with a store bought deep conditioner, some glycerin/honey, and oil and I used that as a hair mask.
