At 22, almost 2 years ago, was when I began growing my hair with a precise length goal.
As a very young child my hair was always long, so, since childhood is the answer to how old was I when I started growing.
Since my teen years up until right now, I have been every length. Pixie to shoulder to APL to BSL and finally to MBL. At this moment in time I growing and hoping to make it to waist length. This is as far as I want to grow, it is a lovely length and looks beautiful on everyone, in my opinion.

I was about mid thirties, and almost 48 right now.
I wish I had started at your age but my mom always told me that my hair wasn't nice enough to grow long. I joined the LHC at 33 and I'm 46 now and almost to my first huge milestone which is waist length! It's taken so long because I've chopped several times for different reasons over the years; damage, iron deficiency and discouraged due to slow growth to name a few.

I began wanting long hair at 17 and really started working towards it at 19...less than a year ago.

I started at 21. Had a 5 year interval where I kept it at waist length and now I'm 28
At 20 and now at 28
Pixie! - Ear - Chin-length floofball - B(L)ob - Shoulder - APL...
I've had relatively long hair (hip or so) for a really long time, but it snuck up on me. I started growing it out deliberately in late 2017. So how old was I...? 24, I believe.

Started from a bob at about age eight. Have been maintaining anywhere from waist to mid-thigh for many years.
I grew out a bob from age 6, then once my hair was hip-TBL I didn't know it could grow longer so it just stayed in that cycle. Then I found LHC age 27 and actively started to look after my hair better and grow longer. (I didn't abuse it, just didn't know any better than shampoo, conditioner, pull a brush through and tie up with hair elastics. Now I do know better and funnily enough it's much longer!)
Length goal well and truly met, now just seeing how it grows ...
Picky scalp but easygoing hair, thank goodness
