Thread: Claw clip springs too strong/tight? how to loosen them

Question Claw clip springs too strong/tight? how to loosen them

I recently went on a little bit of a spree and purchased quite a few clips off of Amazon. I finally got around to de-packing them and tried one out today and I gotta say da-ang, this things have some really strong springs.

Now I am used to using hair claws with springs that aren't nearly as strong as these and I have no problem using them. These new ones with being overly tight, I can forsee problems if I can't figure out how to get them to loosen up. Ouch! Now some of them I think I can remove the spring on, but most of them I am unable too.

Bottom line: has anyone here loosened an overly tight spring before? Or know how to do it? Preferably a way to do it without disassembling, since I am unable to.

Try clamping them on something wide, like a rolled up towel, to get the spring to force open and stay there, that might be enough right there.
