Default Good day hair pins (by Goody)

I bought a package of ten at Sally's, hoping it would be a useful hair pin for when I had wet or damp hair, since it is plastic.
I put in three, carefully following the instructions to squeeze gently as I put them in and they held up my hair fine, however, when removing them (gently) one snapped completely in half.

ARe they prone to this? Did I possibly get a bad one? Do they not work in thick hair or is there some special technique to taking them out? I can still return the package, any input is appreciated.
They do seem like a rather brittle plastic.

I have a problem with breaking them, I also have thick hair. However TorrinPaige uses them in her thick hair with no known complaints. I often wonder if I am just not using them correctly, I don't know what I did with my remaining few. Sorry, guess I'm no help.

    Thanks for your reply.

I researched this a bit before I bought them and I know that Goody does not make the original good hair day pins. A couple of people online said the originals were better.

I did what I read to do online. That is, pinch them together gently and put them in close to my scalp.

It was getting one out that was the problem. IN fact, getting t hem out seems to take a lot of carefulness, they have a lot of nooks and crannies to hook hair.

I will look up how Torrin Paige uses them.

The fact that you also find they break easily makes me think that perhaps they are a return item. I am able to use amish pins and spin pins but what intrigued me about these is that they are plastic and thus waterproof.

I hope I get some more responses! Maybe they are not a commonly used item...?

I can't for the life of me find a Goody version, only the originals. People do say they break a lot. I guess they just use them anyway.

Maybe the thing is in the pinching. I've never seen Torrinpaige pinch them and put them in. Try to put them in like a "regular" fork maybe?

    I would try that.

Ok, I made a mistake. There are two kinds. Good Hair Days pins (which are the ones I bought, I got them in Sally's) are the originals, I believe. Scunci also makes this type of pin, called 'Magic Grip'.

I broke another one in my hair, which makes two, so I am taking mine back.

I did look at Torrin Paige putting them in in her crown braid video. I slid mine in like that and they go IN fine. they hold well. they look nice. The problem i have had is taking them OUT. I just tug on them gently but they kind of twirl all around in my hair and getting them out is a job.

They have just snapped in half.

so they may be for someone else with less thick hair (Torrin Paige does have thick hair, though) or less curly hair, I don't know. But they are not for me. I am doing well with the spin pins and also with the Amish pins and if I want to hold my wet or damp hair up, I will just use my acrylic hair sticks.

I love the goody spin pins. They hold my buns perfectly.
