    Cool Color Fix Tips/Tricks

I just got a box of color fix on my lunch break as my hair has reddish tones from a dye job long ago, and I'd like those gone as red hair doesn't do a thing for me.

I know there were some rumblings a while ago about not using the second step of it, but I believe that has since been deubunked and the second step is safe.

I briefly read the instructions and it said to use a certain pH of conditioner when done, does anyone have any reccomendations on what brand or kind?

Also, any tips on what condition my hair should be in before starting? I think the box said to apply it to dry hair, but should I clarify tonight if I plan of color fixing tomorrow?

    Thanks in advance.

Unless they have changed the formulations, there are three items in it. http://www.folica.com/one__n_only_Col_d312.html

It is the processing lotion that is just mostly peroxide, not Part 2.

It just says a low pH of conditioner, most all conditioners fit this bill.

Remember, it removes dye particles from the hair but it does not restore the color to exactly what it was before it was dyed. If the dye also lightened the hair in addition to depositing red dye, that will still be there. There could be stripeyness or brassiness or other strangeness that you'll be able to see when the dye particles are gone.

On the box I got there are two steps. Step 1 mixes 2 bottles together, and step 2 is the last bottle in the box. So by "not using step 2", I mean "the third bottle".

And I may have old highlights under this dye, so I'm prepared for oddness. I may try to do a semi-permanent dye close to my normal color if it comes out too odd looking. Thanks for the warning though.

I noticed there's a pretty long thread on this subject. There might be some helpful answers/tips/tricks over there for you?

Yeah, the directions on Folica says to mix what they are calling Part 1 and Part 2. Then the other thing is called "processing lotion." It is the processing lotion that is mainly just peroxide.

It says to use the peroxide processing lotion for a short time of five minutes and then see if you need to repeat the Part 1 mixed with Part 2. If I'm not mistaken, I think the purpose of the peroxide may be to quickly neutralize the sulfur. Any shrunken dye molecules remaining in the hair should reinflate, and then you'd be able to see them and decide whether to repeat Part 1 + Part 2 right away. If the peroxide wasn't used the sulfur would go inactive more slowly and any remaining dye would reinflate over more like a couple days.

Hey thanks, I figured there was, but searching for "color fix" got me any thread with the word "color" in the title, and there were too many to sort through.

Thanks again for the info Riot Crrl.
