Default what percentage of your hair is LHC grown?

I was thinking about this the other day. After remembering a post in which spidermom had said (a whiiiile back) that after a trim, she had only LHC-grown hair on her head now, I was wondering when I will be at that stage.

So I measured my hair root-to-tip (on the longest strand I could find), rather than the normal LHC over-the-head method, and my hair is (very roughly) about 24inches.

I've grown (new growth, not retained length, I've trimmed a fair bit of this) about 8.5 inches since joining.

Which means that an estimate of how much of my hair I grew 'right here at LHC'/since discovering LHC/with better handling methods is about 35%. About 35% of my hair is LHC hair!

Of course, this is a very rough estimate, and doesn't take into account varying lengths of hair on the head, or the variance of growth rate between hairs, but short of very detailed information on the growth of each hair and some kind of amount-of-hair-by-volume-rather-than-length, I couldn't think of a better way.

I still think it's a fun topic, because it's a function of so many different things: individual growth rate, amount of trimming, length of hair, length of time that someone's been a member, etc. Some of our longest standing members will be at 100%, but also, so will some of our super shorties!

I hope this hasn't been done before, at least not in a little while

    So, what's your percentage?

ETA: oops, I guess this should be in hair polls, not the Mane forum. *embarrassed face*

Hmm. If my hair grows slightly more than 1/2" a month, I am guessing about 17" of my hair is from after starting at LHC. My hair measures 34" using the LHC approved measuring method, so I would say about 50%.

BTW, I find it very discouraging to have passed tb (which is really butt crack length, I believe) and be approaching true tb, and my hair is only 34" I am so short waisted!
    Change is the only constant.

    Very interesting question!

I'd say about 40%, but this is just a rough estimate made by comparing my first LHC photo with my current one. Since I haven't trimmed my hair since getting here, I guess I won't have totally LHC-grown hair for a while -- until it gets a lot longer, or I decide to sacrifice a lot of length.

O.k. - you all know where I stand; thanks freckles.

In spite of my best efforts - like minimal heat (occasional blow-drying on warm/cool, less than occasional hot curlers), oiling, diluted shampoo CWC, very careful combing/brushing - my hairs still split; darn it!

    0%.

I've had long hair (hip to tailbone) for 45 years.

I came here to keep myself from cutting it out of curiosity, but none of it has been grown because of LHC.

I've gotten 3 trims since I've been here--a total of 9 inches trimmed off--and my hair is still hip length.

Now, my go-to hairstyle of late is something I learned on LHC: the lazy French twist.

sorry spidermom, I couldn't tell if your 'tone' was annoyed at me for putting you in the OP or just stating a fact. I can remove you as my inspiration if you want? (tone is so difficult to tell on the internet!)

My hair care is pretty much what you wrote above, and my hair splits like mad. I'm kind of hoping when I have 100% LHC hair it won't, but who knows, obviously that's not true for everyone

Okay, but even if none of it is grown 'because' of LHC, some of it has been grown 'since' LHC, right? that's more what I was trying to ask

True; some of it has been grown since LHC and some has been cut off since LHC.
