2c/3b looks more like your hair to me since you have waves and curls.
I went with 3a/3b, but I'm not sure, especially since (as you can see in the picture) the top of my hair is only a bit wavy (due to the weight). The longer my hair gets, the more the top flattens out. What do you think? Am I really a 3a/3b, or something else?

Starting over current length: APL+.. GOAL: BACK TO HIP
I think you are in the right area. It looks like you only have waves because the weight of your hair is pulling the curls out a bit. If your hair were shorter I bet those waves would turn into curls.
I think 3a/3b is right on. You have the loose spirals of a 3a, with the ringlets of a 3b forming at the bottom.
In the past, when my hair has been shorter, it's been ringlets all the way up and down (shoulder length and shorter, that is). The longer it gets, the more hairtypes it seems to take in. I wonder, if I let it get to waist length, if I'll start getting into the type 1 range on top?
I think you're 3a/3b, with heavy hair. Your classification really shouldn't change much at this point, unless you change washing methods or something, so I wouldn't worry about the flattening top. That happens, and you can always clip it up or plop as you dry to get more curls higher up if you want them.

Long hair hiatus: short hair for now, buzzcut!
I'm hopeless at clipping (I'm generally hopeless with most styling tools, in fact), but I do keep meaning to try plopping. I'd at least like to attempt to get a consistent texture throughout every once in a while, and I prefer the curls on the bottom to the waves on the top.
And thank you all for the advice, btw.
What beautiful hair!!!
I hope it's all right to re-post my own hair-typing question here, I think it got buried in a different thread.
I chose 2a, but I'm not sure if that's right or not. My hair varies wildly from almost straight to almost curly, depending on all sort of things. Here are two pictures, the first is air-dried (from a few months ago), the second is damp-bunned, recently:
And here it is, blow-dried with goo of some sort (after a visit to a hair-dresser):
Wow, MeganS your curls are absolutely gorgeous!

Treecrown and Sofoulee, thank you very much!
And, Treecrown, obviously I'm still a newbie at the hair-typing thing, but I'd guess 2a for yours as well. You have similar hair to my sister's (though hers is thinner); it ranges from stick-straight to quite wavy depending on the weather and what she's done with it lately.
