Default 8 Years on LHC anniversary!

A bit late I know I always used to love seeing these anniversary threads on other people so here it is I can't believe it's been 8 years, it doesn't feel like it could possibly be that long. Hi to all - those who remember me and the newbies! I've not been on here very much but have continued to grow, mainly because I don't really have time to think about my hair with two kids under 3! I've just cut it back to knee tonight to improve my hemline a little bit.

To recap, I joined LHC in January 2017 with freshly bleached and cut hair, determined to grow long this time - finally to my dream length of classic (which only lasted until I got to classic). The first thing I realised was my grave mistake in..well bleaching and cutting through which I'd set myself back a year or two off the bat. Why was I always told I need to cut my hair so that it grows longer? Logically, it makes no sense but that's exactly what I did for years.

I digress, so I stopped bleaching and stopped cutting my hair and I've trimmed my hair by myself here and there the last 8 years. I've grown from mid back length to knee and I reckon I've finally grown all the dye out - if not then it'll be the stragglers at the end! I've done nothing to hide the demarcation line, it's kind of softened as my hair grew at different speeds I suppose. I rarely wear my sticks and forks any more, mainly because of little hands that grab/worry about poking one of their eyes out so my hair often ends up in a not majorly comfortable claw clip. I'd love suggestions on easy protective styles that are practical with toddlers around if any of you have any! Also for those that remember my last thread where I lost my hearing - it did end up coming back it its previous level thank goodness.

Anyway, on to the pictures - The before picture January 2017 to now, April 2025.

Here are my progress pictures each year - I still can't believe it's been 8 years!

I have added lines so the growth is a bit more visible

Bonus for a laugh - years ago someone on here photoshopped my hair to floor length, they did pretty well actually - I think I'm getting there (although not sure if I will ever reach floor, I oscillate between thinking going back to classic would be more convenient but also wanting to know my terminal length and worrying that I'll never be able to grow it this long again!

Good job! I would suggest a coronet braid to keep little hands, eyes, fingers out of things. Should be quite attractive and with your length, easy to do. There are several threads around. Spin Pins might work also, no pokey ends sticking out. I envy your length.

Having just joined recently, I can't even imagine 8 years from now! Your journey has been impressive, and is truly an inspiration. I love the progress timeline photos - something I need to keep in mind as my own journey continues. Kudos to you for the care you are taking to ensure every strand is feeling loved.

Congratulations, Jas! That is amazing how you have still managed to grow your beautiful hair all the way down to knee length while looking after the little kiddies!

Jas! I've thought of you from time to time and wondered how you were doing. Congrats on your second little one! And happy LHC anniversary.
My youngest is 9 now so it's hard to remember what I did with my hair when they were all younger... I suppose she was a toddler when I started wearing sticks and forks and didn't really try to pull them out or anything.
I think spin pins are a good suggestion, and sticks and forks that don't stick out much. Coronet braid like embee said, or a crown if you find the time.
Also something length-eating like a crochet braid?
Hair is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans.
