I heard that maple syrup is good for dry skin,so I think maybe it will be good for hair, too. Has anybody tried this ?
Applying it.
I have a big jar of this stuff sitting in the fridge and nobody eats it,so I just thought if I could use it for my hair, like honey in SMT ...

I've been wondering this myself recently. It seems like sugar applied to the hair makes it shine.....i remember a few years ago a member starting a thread on confectioners sugar for hair shine but i don't remember any specific details for the treatment being given.
Anyway, my point....i think this might work....and would smell lovely too. If you try it do post back the results....i'll probably try it at some point too.

Here is a recipe.
"Winter Hair Care and Maple Syrup by Angelica
I condition with 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup, a hotel shower cap .... towel wrap for 30 mins. My hair is very silky and full of body afterwards. .... the syrup washes right out!"

I cannot vouch for any of these but you never know.
"Maple Syrup
Massage on .... dry hair leaving for half an hour before shampooing. .... say goodbye to split ends and frizz."

Well,I did an experiment tonight:
I applied a small amount of maple syrup on one of my shortest layers, where my ends are kind of dry.I applied it on dry hair and left it for an hour, then rinse.
Results: Very soft, smooth hair, especially the ends
Conclusion: It seems to me that this could work for nourishing dry ends
Assumption: I suppose this could add some volume to my hair
Suspicion : Maybe it could leave some residue
Final decision : I have to try it on my whole hair !
Keep us posted on how it goes.
That's excellent! I was eyeing up my bottle of maple syrup earlier on thinking of this thread.
If you do get build up from it then i expect soaking your hair in the bath for a little while will dissolve it off. That's how i got rid of honey build up one time.

If there is build-up from maple syrup and it is anything like honey residue, shampoo is what will be needed to remove it.
One of the recipes I posted, says to use maple syrup before washing the hair. That could be why.
I'd be willing to give the maple syrup thing a try if I could get past the smell of the stuff. It smells, erm, well, let's just say it smells horrible to me. I hate it when something that could be so nice for my hair makes me gag.
