Recreating the scent of Aveda Shampure using essential oils?
So I'm completely obsessed with the scent of Aveda's Shampure scent and was wondering if anyone was able to successfully duplicate the scent at home using essential oils.
For those of you who aren't familiar, it's an earthy/ herbal scent, yet it's soapy/ clean smelling as well. It's a spa- like scent, but no one note stands out to me. I did some online searches and some people say it contains sweet orange, eucalyptus, patchouli and ylang ylang. That combo definitely wasn't it, so upon further reading, some people say it also contains lavender, rosemary, bergamot, and peppermint. Now I don't have any bergamot handy, but trying various ratios of these other oils, and I still can't seem to get it right. I'm either using too much or too little of something, or the combo isn't right. The Aveda website is no help. Perhaps they are using artificial fragrance and this can't be duplicated?
I do have the Aveda Shampure body oil (insanely expensive) and the generic Aura Pure shampoo & conditioner, which is a good dupe, and I'm comparing my mixtures to these, and something is off.
Anyone familiar with Shampure & if so, can you help me figure out what I'm doing wrong?

This is not essential oils, but you could buy the smallest bottle to try it out and see how you like it:

I had been recently looking for exactly the same thing and found this.
And by the way, I think you are right and Aveda is not using exclusively essential oils. They are just as commercially oriented as any other hair product company. I usually use cheaper brands with the rosemary mint scent and I'm just as happy with them. I go through tons of the Suave rosemary mint conditioner and the generic version at Sally Beauty.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/sucreabeille?ref=pr_faveshops No ideas on how to recreate this scent but I am also a huge fan. I did link a shop that does a spot on dupe soap. Highly recommend

I think you guys are right, fragrance oil dupes must be the way to go, and I will check out those sellers. Last night I ended up getting the bergamot EO. I also could have sworn I was detecting either geranium or fennel in the Shampure, so I played around with that also, but everything I tried came out smelling like heavy EO combos and not that clean Shampure scent. Unless someone has a recipe, I think they must be using perfume & it can't be recreated. It does say "perfum/ fragrance" in their ingredient lists, so they must have some sort of juicy secret perfume recipe we aren't privy to
DarleneH, that Suave rosemary mint is a very nice shampoo, I'm using it right now with the Aura Pure conditioner since I didn't like the matching shampoo & I like the results. The Aura Pure shampoo I'm using as a hand & body wash, and I also put about a teaspoon in a 24 ounce spray bottle & shook it up, and I'm using it as a room/ linen spray. Smells very good, and they were a good deal at $6 each at drugstore.com. Did Suave ever make a Shampure dupe, or am I just imagining that?
Last night I also ordered a few things from Queen Bee Apothecary on etsy:

I tried her shampure room spray dupe before and liked it, so I decided to try some oil, fragrance roll on & detangler. Hopefully they will be good. What I really wanted was the Aveda lotion, but I couldn't justify spending $27 on lotion. It just seems like highway robbery. Maybe I'll buy it eventually if the dupes aren't as good. Hopefully they will be!
Thanks again for the links, DarleneH & slynr
