Default How do you hold strands...

When doing a Dutch braid on yourself? Right now I grab the strand coming up through the middle with my pinkie, then put the other two strands between my thumb/first finger and first/middle fingers. I add hair between thumb/first. However, I have trouble keeping the braid even/in the center of my head. I'm sure practice would make perfect, but am curious if there is an alternative way of holding the strands that would help. Thanks!

Looks like you're doing fine regarding your hands. It's just a matter of practice, and possibly using strategic mirrors. XD The way I got my Dutch braids to be even was to eyeball the sections that I was grabbing from the main part of my hair, and eventually I moved on to feeling them out with my hands.
