Thanks for the information Ktani and Little Cherry - I belive I will experiment. My thinking was just that I might be more consistent if I make infused catnip oil for a (that will have a longer shelf life) than catnip tea. I know it isn't much difficulty to make the tea - I drink enough herbal and black tea to confirm that, but I feel that an oil might suit my conditioning needs better from a time perspective in that I can whack it on, tie my hair up and wash it later. I think its the wet hair thing actually now that I write about it.
I was wondering if washing CO is sufficient for cleaning the hair prior to doing a catnip rinse or is it better to do shampoo?
I have a ton of coconut oil in my hair right now due to a heavy overnight oiling that needs to be washed out and I wanted to try the catnip today but wasn't sure if the conditioner would leave a residue. It would be the V05 Vanilla Mint Tea one if it matters.![]()

You are most welcome!
Depending on the kind of and how much conditioner you use, you may be able to remove the oil with a CO, and then shampoo off or clarify out the conditioner. Oil can be difficult to remove. The shampoo need only be one without additives or a shampoo for "normal" hair, not a harsh clarifying one, in some cases.
I have a friend who was using shampoos and conditioners that were moisturizing. She got build-up. I suggested that for the next while, she switch to a shampoo for normal hair to help remove the residue. It did make a significant difference for her. She was not going to use catnip though. She was just having problems with tangling and unruly hair because of the build-up problem.
In a cup of oil, I add a teaspoon of catnip. At first, I started off with a tablespoon, but it was leaving a coating on my hair. I clarify once ever 2 weeks or so, so buildup is not a problem with me
I'm all about trial and error
Has anyone tried pure catnip extract from the pet store that comes in a spray bottle? I wonder if this would work if diluted in water?
