So I did this on Sunday, and I am happy with the results. It's quite subtle in the most lights (I haven't seen it in sunlight yet). I tried to take pictures, but in most of them it's just not visible at all, though I can see it myself. But I managed to take one picture where it is very orange, lol. Anyway, I think the colour is very nice IRL and it has deepened some since Sunday and it's a bit more red.

I did the ends (15-10 cm) and my underhair.

I will repeat this at some point, maybe after a mont or so.

I have heard the mermaids singing... and I do think that they will sing to me...

I used to dye just my ends, but not with henna. I'd make a ponytail on top of my head like I was getting ready to do a compact cut, then I'd apply dye to the bottom 4 or 5 inches of the ponytail. It layered in very nicely when I let my hair down. I don't have a photo.

Oh, I might try your technique next time for more blending, that sounds great!

I have always done two side braids around my ears and dyed the ends.

    Thank you!
Now I am tempted to do a weak henna gloss over all my hair. I should resist, I think I would just end up with orange halo and I 'm actually happy with my virgin colour.

I used to pull section of hair through a cap and just henna those for a red low-lights kind of look. If one time I had used amla as my acid, next time I would use cream of tartar and achieve a different red. Then I tried some hendigo. Looked nice and served as strand tests at the same time, but was a bit too time consuming for my liking. Now I just use a cassia/henna/indigo mix on the top half of my head. The “under-wool” is much darker due to weathering on top, so I am trying to get close to that color with the rest of my hair.
