So I’ve been seeing a lot of Sarah Tran / HairQare things on my social media feeds. It sounds like it’s a program that’s a combination of “eat right to nourish your hair” and some sort of DIY recipes (things you ‘already have’ in your house / kitchen).
So this got my thinking… Anyone have any tried-and-true recipes like that (for your hair, not your stomach…), that have actually worked? I’m hesitant to trust influencers, regardless of how awesome their hair looks.
I wouldn't trust influencers either. They tend to use a lot of filters and/or have good genetics. My favourite is still Snowy's Moisture Treatment (SMT). It's a cone-free conditioner, honey, aloe vera, and a touch of glycerine. You heat the honey to remove peroxide and then use it. I leave it on for 5-10 minutes before rinsing it out.
A major thing for me, "tried and true" through all phases of the Moon so far, and not from a bottle even, has been to not even think about detangling WET hair after washing. It's bone dry only. Far less tangling and breakage. Saves money on conditioner too :p

SMT is excellent, but I've had to modify my recipe over time (I've nixed the aloe vera gel since it wasn't playing nicely for some reason. I add herbal tea to it which makes rinsing easier).
Canned coconut milk is also a gamechanger. I used to use it but haven't in years, but it was something I've added to herbal muds before with excellent results.

I've wanted to try flaxseed gel for a long time now! Maybe I'll give it a go! :)
My tried and true is coconut oil on my ends. In the summer it is almost every day. Other times of the year it is as needed, and I can tell.
