Hey all!

I'm watching "The Wizard of Oz" and can't get over how pretty and luscious Dorothy (Judy Garland)'s hair looks. Pretty sure she was one of my first hair idols haha! :thud::lol:

I was wondering what your favourite movie hairstyles were/are, I know that there is probably a thread like this floating around somewhere but I decided to make a new one!

Other mentions:
Rapunzel in Tangled
Elsa
Ariel (I think you can probably tell I'm a Disney freak!)
Almost every long-haired character in "Lord of the Rings"
Luna Lovegood

Galadriel in the Lord of the Rings movies (but it was even cooler in the book)
Honestly I love the hair so much in the movies I watch all of them in spite of Peter Jackson.

...

I guess I only have one favorite. :/ Nothing else stands out to me at all. Almost every other movie we're lucky to see nice looking bsl wigs.

There are probably lots of others I forgot to mention... but here I'm posting only the styles that I also found complex. If we were talking about hair loose, then my list would probably be endless

I know right? LotR movies are awesome for hair, soundtrack, special effects, and not much else. Ever After has some nice hair though. I recently re-watched it and it wasn't as long as I remembered! I guess that's what happens when you hang out on TLHC. :)
The hair on Brave is awesome!

I first fell in love with hair when I saw 'Titanic'. Kate Winslet's hair in the film was beyond gorgeous to me and the first thing I wanted to do was go out and color my hair red followed by a perm. Thankfully, I never followed through with it, mainly because I was only 8 at the time! But, her hair has always been one of my inspirations and the one reason I kept coloring my hair varying shades of red looking to find the "perfect" one. My other film inspiration was Danielle from "Ever After" - serious case of 'long hair envy' with that film! My goal when I started growing my hair long was to have hair the same length as hers and it didn't hit me until I'd reached fingertip length that my hair was well beyond her length. I love how those styles look so simplistic and yet intricate all at the same time. Personal favorites: the ball scene where she's dressed as an angel with that braided updo and the ending scene when she's finally a princess.

I hardly watch movies, but I saw a couple of season 1 Vampire Diaries episodes, and Nina Dobrev's hair was amazing...I'm not usually a fan of super thin hair but hers looked awesome.

To be honest, the long hair of the elves in the Lord of the Rings in general is gorgeous. Even it's just worn down with simple waves.. so pretty!

I too love the Disney movies! Hair that I loved seeing:
Meg (Hercules)
Esmeralda (Hunchback of Notre Dame)
Jasmine (Aladdin)
Ariel (The Little Mermaid)
Elsa and Anna (Frozen)
Merida (Brave)
And my favorite of all: Pocahontas! It's really funny seeing her run around the forest and canoe DOWN A WATERFALL and her hair swings perfectly the whole time. I loved her character overall more than just her hair though.
I would have liked to see Tiana's hair down at least once. I bet it would have made a nice thick curly 'fro (if she pulled it right out of her usual ponytail).

As a side note: This isn't Disney, but am I the only one who loved Hermione's hair in The Philosopher's (Sorcerer's) Stone and The Chamber of Secrets? She was so cute with her hair thick and bushy as described in the books! In the later movies she gets it cut a bit and it starts to look less bushy.

I love Rapunzels hair from Tangled! My favorite hair from a movie is definitely her's. I sure do wish I had hair that thick and long.

Probably not a very popular choice around here, but I LOVE unrealistically sleek bobs!
Carol Marcus from Star Trek: Into Darkness and Claire from Jurassic World are my kinda hair.

In fact, I pretty much only have long hair because my bobs NEVER look that good.

You are definitely not the only one. :D I loved her big hair in the first movie, too! :agree:
It looked both natural and lionesque! Very impressive hair. So many years passed and I still remember it! :D Loved it!

I loved Lauren Bacall's hair in "To Have and to Have Not", and Lizabeth Scott's in "The Strange Love of Martha Ivers" and "Dead Reckoning". Odd that neither had hair longer than BSL. I just loved that smooth, shiny, longish, not-a-hair-out-of-place blonde pageboy! When Ms. Bacall's cut her hair to shoulder length I thought it took away much of her beauty. I love these styles from the '40s!

Well I like a bit more natural, commmon and approchable hair looks. (Middle parted gals with straight or wavish long hair almost all from 70's)

I love both Diane Keaton and Shelley Duvalls' hair in Annie Hall.
Alicia Silverstone in Clueless and all her early 90's movies her hair looks thick, straight and georgeous.
Camile Keaton in pretty much any 70's movies she was on including I spit on your grave :p
Mexican actress Tina Romero wavy hair in Alucarda (very freaky weirdish film not for sensitive poeple) and all her 70's tammed mexican movies
Ali Macgraw both in and out of movies, but her hair on The Getaway with Steve Mcqueen looks quite more eye catching in that movie. Of course Love Story too

My most favorite one is. Olivia Hussey in 60's Romeo and Juliet (long, dark, straight and natural thats what I want for me). One of the few literature movies where its not an unrealistic weave and she is to me the most beautiful women I've seen in a film.

And other ladies that dont quite fit but love their hair are Veronica Lake 40's vintage waves previous ww2 updo and the girl with razored ultra red hair from Run Lola Run.

Agh, I love Ruffnut Thorston's hair from the How to Train Your Dragon series. Not just because it's so long and ridiculously thick (and it totally is), but because it suits her character so well! It's got this funny, twisted look, like she never learned how to properly braid her hair; and she probably never asked for help because she's doesn't want to appear girly, and too obsessed with her appearance. Also, I'd say it's a pretty realistic color. Like yeah, it's definitely a lighter blonde, but it's very beige-y, not super yellow-y like you see in a lot of cartoons.

If it's not obvious from my name, I'm also a fan of Hermione's hair along with her character. Was always disappointed that they started taming it, and that Harry's was never as messy as it was supposed to me (maybe because they both remind me of my own hair type, wavy and bushy and always sticking up immune to taming :p)

Also keeping with HP, I really admire young Lily's hair in Deathly Hallows Part 2 - really long, really wavy, really red. Coming from probably the only person on the planet who's NOT a fan of the Prince's Tale scene, book or movie, her hair, as well as the kiss/dance were the only good parts imo.

Really love Katara, June, Zuko's after he grew it out, Korra's triple tails, and Asami's from Avatar and Legend of Korra.

Lyra Silvertongue's from His Dark Materials, both how it's described in the books and shown in the movies. And most of the Disney ones already mentioned.

I adore Anita Louise's wig from A Little Princess (1939):

Top marks for Romy Schneider's fabulous Empress Elizabeth of Austria wigs in the Sissi trilogy (known in the US as "Forever My Love").

Another favorite: Rhonda Flemings exquisite fairytale tresses in "A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court" (1949).

I loved Kate Winslet's hair too! When I was 6 and was the flower girl for my aunt's wedding, I requested the updo she has during the dinner scene when I went to the salon to get ready for the wedding :p

My favorite movie hair always has been and probably always will be Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia) in the original Star Wars trilogy. I was so heartbroken as a child to find out it wasn't her real hair :wail: This style is my favorite:

The best, most wonderful movie hairstyle for me is Amélie from "Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain".
It's fantastic OMO, very special, and I'd love to have it on my head and it'll suit my face and personality BUT: it's impossible for my hair texture and thickness. I've asked many hairstylists and they always tell me: NO WAY.

For me there's two options: Amélie or very long hair. I can't have Amélie so I grow it out to my butt.

Rolling with Olivia Hussey in pretty much every movie as well, i like simple hairstyles but also adore more complicated stuff like Fan Bingbing in the empress of china, or the rainbow haired princesses in the fox lover.
I also remember being absolutely into Sissy Spaceks hair in the Carrie movie, i found her so utterly beautiful in this that it was hard for me to accept the storyline.
Also there was a movie called the indian tomb i think, beautiful actress with long dark hair and mad dancing skills :D

I LOVED the hair in Gone With the Wind. Say what you will about the story, but it's a beautiful movie, down to the costumes and hair.
