Hi all. I feel like i've been at BSL forever AND A DAY!!!! But according to THIS meassuring chart i just found on google , i may already be at a solid MBL :O. What do you think my length IS now at?

Heres the chart
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/MayasMommy7nov/hairlengthchartcopy-1.jpg (http://s298.photobucket.com/user/MayasMommy7nov/media/hairlengthchartcopy-1.jpg.html)

And here is my current length
http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm242/MayasMommy7nov/DSCF9728-1.jpg (http://s298.photobucket.com/user/MayasMommy7nov/media/DSCF9728-1.jpg.html)

I cant get my ends to behave properly (they tend to flip upwards) and I had a half braid for a couple of hours tonight so my hair is slightly wavy but normally my hair is straight.

The black line is pretty much where my hair would normally fall to at full length if it didnt have the braid wave in. I should really do this post on a normal hair day but im to impatient to wait until tomorrow (its 11pm now) and i need to know ASAP. I feel like ive been at BSL for sooooo long!!!! I will be jumping for joy to know that i am at least CLOSE enough to MBL :D AM I? AM I?

Ok, the questions one more time. Am i at MBL? A solid MBL or a "maybe there" MBL? Or am i still at BSL? :((

Off to bed now. Thank you heaps!

I'd call that BSL sorry, MBL is much nearer to waist length you've got a good few inches to go.

I know mbl is shown on the chart near bottom bra strap but alot of people call the bottom bra strap bsl here. I could be wrong.

I would say BSL. To me MBL starts exactly between BSL & Waist, which is quite a few inches lower than your marker.

Also on this chart, why does hip look lower than tailbone and almost classic?

I don't even think MBL is a great marker anyway, where the fricking frack is it?

My suggestion is not to sweat the marker, your hair "is what it is." I know I am enjoying my hair the length it is now (almost BSL), and say to myself, next year, it will be so awesome that it should be at waist, sometime.

Does anyone have a chart they could post that is more accurate to LHC standards for hair length?
I always heard bsl was bottom of bra strap, like Jacqueline 101 states and it would make me more confident to have an accurate chart.

I'd call your length BSL too as it's just below the bottom of the bra band which is where BSL starts. There are some different opinions about what MBL length is. Generally the marker MBL is used on men who usually don't wear a bra so that's their equivalent of BSL and the marker stands somewhere between APL and waist on them, just so they'd have a marker between APL and waist because that's a long way to go otherwise. Some ladies also use the MBL marker though when they get tired of waiting for the next goal after BSL which is waist and mark it halfway between those.

So if you use the men's criteria then yes you are MBL = BSL, but in the women's criteria you're still a few inches away. Your hands seem to be at waist in this photo so when you hit the halfway point of now and your waist, then you can call MBL if you wish, but quite frankly I'd just wait for waist myself if I were you.

Also Wildcat Diva is right, hip is not where it should be in the diagram. That's about classic there where it says hip. Hip is around the waistband of those pants there in the diagram or a bit higher, depending on bone structure.

ETA: Also, here (http://www.hairfinder.com/info/hair-length-chart.gif) is a slightly more accurate looking chart to me, which does have MBL there also, somewhere between BSL and waist. But keep in mind people, that we all are built different ways and therefore have different proportions so the length to grow from one marker to another may vary.

I always measure BSL from the bottom of the bra strap, and on both of those charts it's measured at the top. So I'd say MBL is actually lower, between the bottom of the bra strap and waist. Depending on your anatomy this could be a really short milestone or, can seem to last forever!

For me MBL is smack dab in the middle between BSL & waist. So, few inches to go. But you're most certainly BSL and can celebrate that! :D

Can someone tell me the difference between TB and BCL? Not that I'm anywhere close to that...., but I've always wondered. Many people talk about BCL but it isn't on any of the charts.

Also the point made about , on some people the body markers being far apart compared to these charts BSL to waist was a long distance away on me .

faellen, oh you're right about bsl and mbl being a bit lower but much more accurate than original chart. At least I can follow this one, better. I'm at mbl about 1.5" away from waist and just like having chart for my journal. Can't wait to finally get to ws length. I have a long torso but almost there. :)

The area between APL and Waist seems really subjective and free of reliable landmarks. I've kind of given up on understanding it. I like WildcatDiva's approach.

Personally I think it would make sense to replace BSL with MBL, defined as halfway between APL and Waist, but it seems that other people have other longer definitions of MBL.

Another query, is hip before tailbone? seen it marked differently on different charts, so am a bit confused? Got a long time to go before I get there tho'

I second that, celebrating BSL. :cheer:

Thanks guys, and thanks for the other charts as well. I'm still confused as to where MBL is. I thought BSL meassured from the bottom of shoulder blade because bras dont always sit at the same spot but a shoulder blade is ALWAYS in the same spot on everyone so i always used that meassurement for BSL. Ah well, I think i will stop obssesing over my length now and "forget" about it for a little while and see where that takes me. Cheers all.

The chart you posted looks pretty bad made, hip is at classic and mid back at bra strap...um sorry you are not already at mid back but you are at bra strap!!:D mid back is just between your current length and waist,so when it will be a lil past bra you will achieve mid back :)

About bcl and tb,butt crack length is when your back meets the bum, just at the top of it,tailbone instead is where the actual tailbone ends, just touch it and find where you dont find it anymore,it usually is at the middle of the bum, hope ive helped :D

For me there is a huge gap between bsl and waist and not even 2 inches from waist to hip.
I like when the milestones are balanced,so I threw in the mid back length milestone.People who have a shorter way to go from bsl to wl might not need to count mbl as a milestone.I think that is a part of why there is so much confusion about it.

ETA: I just realized while looking at the chart where the hip is at classic...they probably measure mbl as actual half of the woman's back.

I always though your back is between shoulders and BC, so MBL would be halfway between them.

I agree with you, anatomically speaking MBL is halfway between APL and waist so that's what I go with, it is also close to BSL on me. I don't understand how MBL can be between BSL and waist, on anyone that's going to be much further down your back than halfway.

OP - your hair is halfway between APL and waist so as far as I'm concerned it's MBL - congrats!

I totally agree. Mbl should be the middle of your back. On me this is bottom of bra band.

Physiologically hip has to come before tailbone because your coccyx is inferior to your illiac crest on every person anatomically....

Here are two charts I have seen...

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b270/Bestbirth/Hair%20Gallery/hair-length-chart.gif (http://s21.photobucket.com/user/Bestbirth/media/Hair%20Gallery/hair-length-chart.gif.html)

http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b270/Bestbirth/Hair%20Gallery/hairlengths.jpg (http://s21.photobucket.com/user/Bestbirth/media/Hair%20Gallery/hairlengths.jpg.html)

The second chart makes it appear that MBL is at the bottom of the bra strap, but the first chart depicts it as halfway between the shoulder and the elbow. I have hair at MBL right now, according to the first chart. ETA: Actually, upon taking a second look at my signature picture, I guess mine is between MBL and waist, really, and the second chart also depicts MBL as between the shoulder and elbow, but since it doesn't give a back view, it isn't as definitive as the first chart.

LauraLongLocks, thanks. I like the first chart. It seems more accurate to me. :o

As far as the hip measurement goes, I think the first chart is using a hip measuremnt according to a dressmaker, which would be the widest part of your hips (mine would be close to classic as well). According to hair growth, however, hip is much higher and is located at the illiac crests (the tops of the hip bones).

Thanks sweetinlace, that makes sense regarding hip measurement and I'll have to remember when looking at chart. :o
