Help, A knotty Plait Problem

My problem is when I do a single plait, up near the nape of my neck likes to tangle up. Does any one have any suggestions?

Try a french plait that starts very low? I like to do ones where my starting hair is everything above ... if you try to imagine a line parallel with the floor on the back of your head drawn from the top of one ear to the other. I only add 2 or maybe 3 extra bits in on each side, though if you added in bigger chunks at a time you could add in only one from each side.

As well as keeping those back bits tighter and tidier, it also makes a nice base so a plaited cinnabun doesn't move about too much.

I don't know how long your hair is, but here's a suggestion.

1 Detangle the hair thoroughly. Part the hair from ear to ear (just below the ear) and clip aside. Take remaining hair and braid it.

2 Unclip top hair and divide it in 2 sections.

3 Keeping the braid you already made as the center
section, now braid all the hair together and fasten off.

Your other alternative would be to braid your hair in a Dutch or English french braid. Good luck!

Make sure your braid is tight at the beginning.

I can't wear what's called a Dianyla braid without tangling.

Separating the hair as I would start a French braid and then just braid it regularly helps.
