Question Updos for Shoulder Length Hair?

Does anyone have ideas for cute and comfortable updos for shoulder length hair? I am getting frustrated with all the dos I try and find I can't do. I'd like to find some I can do.

Any ideas? Please tell me how...

    Thanks!

I'm not exactly the best person to reply to this, but I've always liked French braids on shoulder length hair Do you do peacock twists, French twists, or regular ponytails? They can look really elegant in a simple way.

Try putting your hair in a french twist (only twist up half of your hair if it's not holding right with all of it), use mini clips to hold it up along the way, stop clipping about halfway up the twist, let the rest of the hair fan out over your twist.

Also, you can try one that I used for formal updos when I was performing or going somewhere nice. Divide your hair in half, take one section and starting at the front of your head, twist it up and clip/bobby pin (I almost always opt for clips over bobby pins) until you get about an inch below your ear. Do the same to the other side. Either leave the rest down or twist small sections of the hair and clip it up. (here is a picture of the side twists, only she used bobby pins instead of clips)

    4. Put your hair in a pony tail, take a favourite scarf and wrap it around your head. Avaamin on youtube has a great tutorial http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wso-I...eature=related

    3. half pony tails, pig tails, half-dos are a good option for something comfortable that will stay also. Since they tend to get boring, maybe accesorize with flowers or scarves.

Also try putting your hair up when it's slightly damp because it holds better and use mini clips; they hold better when you have shorter hair.

    hope this helps?

    Thanks all!
@ Capybara: Thanks for the welcome!
@ Phylsgyrl: What do you mean by miniclips? I'm not sure the thing I'm thinking is the thing you're talking about.

    Try a Gibson tuck -- I think they're gorgeous!

    French braid.
    Twist.
Not sure what it's called... but the one where hair is in a ponytail and you poke it through... they used to sell a tool called a topsy turvy to do it (but you can just use your fingers)... might look really cute.

mini braids, pigtails, double buns half up ponies, a french twist.. um.. you could curl your hair with rollers or rag curlers.. hmm, can't think of anything else.
