What inspired long hair for you?

I don't know if this is the proper place for this question, but I was wondering who was/is your hair "idol" or the person who inspires you to keep growing?

For me, it was when I watched Winona Ryder in "Little Women". I just love her hair, and when I saw that for the first time, I told myself I would have hair as long as hers. I've cut it a few times since then, but she remains my hair goal, and I'm shooting for it once more.

So, who was the person that first made you want to grow your hair?

Probably like more guys, mine was a rockstar.
Because I have very thick and curly hair, my mom told me it was impossible to grow it long when I first started to think about it. The more I saw Slash from Guns N' Roses, the more I got convinced I'd look a whole lot better with long hair.

After about five years, she still tries to convince me to get a haircut.

I was never allowed to have long hair as a child. I don't blame my Mom as she had 3 little kids each only 11 months apart. I'm sure she didn't want to mess with having to comb 3 heads of long hair. Anyway that was my first reason to grow. I've grown, cut, grown, permed etc. Now I'm growing again! I like it best when it's long and natural.

My dad and myself. My dad has always liked long hair on me and we've made several friendly bets over the years that I could get it long again (I've failed miserably so far!) And I keep looking at younger pics of me when my hair was about lower back and that keeps me inspired.

My mum was my inspiration! She had long black hair and lots of it. As a little girl she used to sit on it and through her adult years it was always at least waist length. Whenever I look at her photos I crave to have my own like hers. I'll find some of those pics and share them with you.

Even though my half-sister is constantly begging for me to cut my hair, she was actually the one who inspired me to grow it out in the first place.

When I was little, I never thought that long hair was an option. My mom always cut my hair into a short bob, and everyone in my family had short hair as well, so I accepted it as the status quo. However, when I was about five, my sister grew her hair out to apl and I was struck by how much better it looked and I started refusing to get haircuts, wanting my hair to be as long as possible. I got rather attatched to my long hair, and grew to hate even the occasional trim, though both my mom and my sister thought that my hair was far too long.

I've loved long hair ever since I was a very little girl, so I really couldn't say who my first inspiration was. Probably a Disney princess

I was like a lot of others who thought my curly frizzy unruly hair had to be cut shorter and layered to death to halfway look nice. It was actually when I came here that I finally realized it was just because I didn't know how to take care of it. As for the inspiration part, there have been long haired people all through my life that I have admired for their beautiful tresses, one in my school as I was growing up with waist length silky hair, the only one in my school with long hair. She was the first and her name was Connie. Crystal Gayle was also a big hair idol of mine as I got older.
