Congrats! Like Bat said you could have called it for a long time now.

I'm feeling so stalled. But I keep those 10 year old pics in my signature to remind myself that it's possible, even if thin and scraggly, for me to have long hair.
Unfortunately this is also part of the process. Luckily your hair still looks good at this length.

It grew this month though! I can never measure my hair right either

    *mini rant*
The right side of my head grows slower than the left side of my head and its so frustrating. Its always one little sliver of hair on my right side that messes up hairstyles until I'm like APL. Anyone else have this issue?

Thank you! I just wanted to be really solidly there. Getting to APL takes forever!

I know its discouraging, but a few things to keep in mind. 1. I find it very hard to get an accurate measure when my hair is shorter than APL. 2. I have had times where the tape measure said there was no growth, but it looked longer, and when I measured it a few months later, it had grown a lot! I always seem to stall in the summertime for some reason, but eventually, even if things aren't growing down sometimes it seems like layers are catching up, bangs are growing out, etc.. 3. keep it up! you will get there!

Thanks! I know I am a nut. I don't think I will be that patient when my hair is finally APL though.

I think a lot of us are like that, APL is when hair starts looking long

    Congratulations, ReadingRenee!

I haven't been here in a little while but I'm also calling shoulder length as of today! Here's my monthly length check:

It doesn't look so obviously shoulder there, but I've been feeling it brushing the tops of my shoulders for a couple of weeks now. So thanks for all of the encouragement in here and I'll see you in shoulder-to-APL soon!

Heyyyyyyy, massive congrats to ReadingRenee and xanthochromia for graduating - and may I say that both of your hair is looking quite lovely - gorgeous colours and textures both. I am so eager to join you over on Shoulder-APL but I think I'm another couple of months away at least -here's my March length shot (my hair is parting weirdly around my crown, but let's ignore that)

I feel you, InTheCity - I think I took an optimistic measurement at the beginning of the year, and have been feeling like it's not growing (according to the tape measure) since then - but when I look at it, it does seem visually longer... for what it's worth, I think your hair looks awesome at the length it's currently at!
Growing out a buzzcut since September 2019

    buzz -- shaggy pixie-ish mess -- chin length + -- SL -- APL -- MBL -- waist -- hip

I have taken to measuring a little more often to try to reduce the noise from optimistic or pessimistic measurements. That may make things worse for you if you fixate a lot, but it's worth considering. Regardless, I really hope you feel better about it soon and I just wanted to say that your signature pictures really don't look scraggly to me! You may have seen this video already, but just in case you haven't, Heike's hair is fine/thin and still very beautiful.

Your hair looks great! I agree with Bat that you have many places you could call shoulder, so you should decide if you're thinking just-brushing-the-trapezius or CBL for when you call it -- I think you'll hit the former soon, especially if you call wet/stretched!

Thanks, Bat! Your hair has been growing so fast that I know you'll be there soon (if you just leave it alone :P). I saw elsewhere that you got bangs - I'm sorry you don't like them right now, but I bet you can figure out some way to style or cut them that they'll feel like they suit you better. I love having bangs because they're a quick way and non-damaging way of making changes.
