I avoided a LOT of the Shea Moisture products because they almost all contain protein. Has anyone with protein sensitive hair went on ahead and tried the protein containing products? Any reports?
From what I've read and my own experience, the milk would probably be best for your hair type. The smoothie is nice, but a bit much for me (but I've also heard it's better for 3a hair mixed with some gel, and I haven't tried it that way), and I think the souffle is meant more for type 4s than 3s. The milk is pretty versatile, too--you can rinse it out, use as a leave-in, and it works pretty well in a mister bottle mixed with some water. Plus it smells heavenly!

thanks! i will try the milk then. As a mist, do you find that it "wakes up" second day curls?? With my current regimen (CWC with tresemme naturals/dilute sulfate shampoo on scalp only/phytojoba with panacea as a leave in), if I want my curl to come back I have to rewet my hair 100% and just start over. My hair loses nearly all the curl by the 2nd day after washing even at APL.
OH YESSS!!! I am so happy the rest of TLHC has finally discovered this amazing product!!!!
I first got it last year maybe in september...Could NOT find anyone else on here who had ever even heard of it.
I loveeeeeeee the Moisture line. It smells like heaven to me.
It smells like the old fragrance that Gap Outlet used to have but discontinued it was called : "Ohm"
At first they only had a shampoo, and the deep treatment masque...now I went to the store a few months ago and saw that they added a conditioner, and a spray oil.
I only tried the conditioner though out of the new stuff I saw. The oil in the store smelled kind of stale so I passed.
This shampoo is my absolute favorite, favorite, favorite. And I am overly excited right now
I got a bottle of the curl spray but the smell started to bother me after a while. I only have a little left but I found a use for it...I douse my hair in it before henna.
It seems that they added a few new products too. I saw an olive oil something, and a few other things that looked different. Didn't try em though. It is a bit expensive for my budget at the moment.
Taking an LHC break.
CurlyCap, my hair doesn't hate protein, but it's not overly fond of it either, and so far the protein products seem to be fine. I'm having the same results now as a month ago (or whenever I started using SM). So if your hair can't tolerate protein at all, I'd say no, but if it's so-so you may be OK.
Lilliemer, I can use the milk in a spray to refresh curls, but I can use plain water for that, too, so YMMV. It does give a nice softness, though.
Akilina, I can't get over how much my hair likes this line! I bought the volume conditioner just to try it out (I don't really need more volume, lol). I figure I can always pass it off to my kids or my sister if it doesn't do much for me.
I just bought the moisture milk, since I've been wanting to try it as a styling product and it's amazing. I just washed my hair today, but due to 84% humidity and my taking off and putting on a hat all day, my hair is acting like 2nd-day: puffy, frizzy, dull, like cotton candy (though not dry, as it's absorbing moisture from the air). I put some in, just to play with it, and it was instant definition. It wasn't put-some-in-and-wait-to-see-if-it-curls. I think this may be the cure for second-day hair. It also will solve the problem of getting oil into my wet hair, I think.
Yeah, the souffle made my hair sticky too. Not only my hair, but my ears, neck, and forehead. The effect of my bangs rubbing against my face was really bad acne.
When I shingle my hair I use the Curl Enhancing Smoothie under my Olive Oil Eco-Styler to prevent crunch. Sometimes I get a little crunch but it goes away by second day. I also scrunch it in to get curly, fluffy wash and go's.
Once a month (especially when I'm doing wash and go's) I use the Deep Treatment Masque. It makes my hair really curly, which is an added benefit for wash and go's. When I shingle my hair is already curl enough, so I focus on protein treatments then (which is when I need them most).

i had heard of this but no one around here carried it. but today i saw it at target! they only had 4 items but hey better than nothing. wanted to get it since it was on sale but i have enough stuff.
Uh-oh.
I think I'm addicted to the smell of the Moisture Retention Shampoo. I find that I'm using it even if I don't have to. Just cause it smells pretty.
