Thread: The Shea Moisture Thread

I recently decided to haul a number of Shea Moisture stuff, because, I wanted to give the new formula of the CES a try, as well as, trying out their Coconut & Hibiscus Co-Wash. I have probably tried every formulation of the CES that has ever been put out there, but this newest one is actually the only one that I have found that is most similar to the original version. Also, they now happen to be selling the 20 oz. jar of it in Walmart, it it may be available through other vendors, whether they happen to be online or not. Oh, and, the new formula of the CES in the U.S. starts with water, and ends with fragrance. If you have fine, thin hair, I do, the less you to my house. If you have more thicker, denser, and coarser hair, then you would use as much as needed for your specific hair needs.
And, when you apply it, definitely make sure that it is evenly distributed always for best results.

Now, their Coconut & Hibiscus Co-Wash it is not super moisturizing, but it cleans my hair and scalp better than other co-wash that I’ve ever tried has ever done before. I don’t co-wash my hair on a regular basis, as I only do such on my lazy hair wash days. I think it is a decent co-wash overall and I definitely will continue to buy it. Also, I definitely will continue to buy the new formula of the CES. I definitely hope that they stick with this new formula and don’t go around changing it

tried this line when it first came out but the smell is overpowering. I chose the one that seemed the least strong which was the coconut hibiscus. The shampoo made my hair like straw, but the conditioner was better.

since I've been cutting my hair at home this past year, I use a tiny bit of the conditioner when I dampen my hair to give it some slip so I can cut it. It does bulk up my hair a lot, but, even using that small amount, the smell is too much.

I tried the curling smoothie but I wasn't successful at applying it. At least I didn't like the result: not enough definition and the hair felt sticky.
I normally use mousse as the only leave-in product, and trying to replace it with smoothie didn't work. I probably don't have the right technique to make it work.

The only Shea Moisture product that has ever worked for me has been the manuka honey and yogurt protein power mask. Everything else was just weird on my hair. I've tried a shampoo that I hated (black castor oil), a conditioner I can't remember the name of that I had to use like a quarter of the bottle for one wash, and a mask that was just too heavy. However, I've gone through at least two bottles of this mask no problems.

Tried the shea moisture tame and smooth shampoo and conditioner but I'm not sure how I feel about it, when drying my roots felt hard? And my ends are feeling pretty dry

Just tried the JBCO Strengthen & Restore Leave-In Conditioner. It does the job well but the scent really bothers me - I'd forgotten this is what put me off another conditioner from the JBCO range before. Anyone else have this issue and managed to mix in some EOs or other scents?

Attempting to create a spoiler by putting this in white in case anyone else is sensitive to reading things about scents: to me it smells like play-dough or plasticine. Very strange, reminds me of being a child.

I actually really like that scent. To me it's a nice warm vanilla scent. I actually have it in my hair this week (the leave-in).
