It's quite hard to find curly threads on this forum so I am happy to have found this one!!

Everyone's hair is so pretty!! Makes me so happy to see!!
If your avatar is a hairtyping picture that is for sure 3c the 2 curls I see. Might be 3b/c in total; you won't know for sure if that isn't a hairtyping image.

Hiiiii I have type 3a/3b when I actually style and hydrate my curls. When I don't do anything to it, my curls struggle and are closer to 2c/3a

Hi! I'm not type 3 but my toddler is. She also has very fine hair that doesn't really hold and braids, buns, or even ponytails. Her hair is very tangle prone and I'm looking for a way to keep it stretched to minimize tangling. I was wondering if any of you have fine, slippery hair and have any suggestions?

ETA: I'm also looking for detangling tool suggestions. I lost the EZ Detangling brush I was using in her hair and that was okay but sometimes snagged and broke hair before I could catch it. I grabbed a Wet Brush as it was all I could find in a local store but I hate it. I think her hair is wrapping around the little balls on the ends and breaking off, wet or dry.

Hi! I'm not a 3 either, but I do have fine slippery hair that tangles easily. I don't know if she'd be game for a satin bonnet at night (maybe call it a magic hat to fight the evil tangles!), but that's made a huge difference for me. Conditioner and a TT too. Also, Lilla Rose has Sport Flexis in 3 different sizes including an XS. I have one of the larger sizes and it holds really well without slipping. Different colors available for different sizes. Good luck:

I I have 3c hair. It’s high density, coarse, wiry strands, and low porosity.

I doubt a bonnet would stay on her head even if I could get her to wear one. She's the kind of sleeper that flops around all night, sits up and talks in the middle of the night, etc. I'm surprised she hasn't fallen off the bed yet. I usually put a satin pillowcase on her little pillow instead but I know that doesn't contain the hair or keep it from moving around. I'll look into those Sport Flexis and the TT. Thanks for the suggestions!

What ended up working for your little one? I am in the same boat with my 2 y/o daughter who has 3b/c curls.

To be honest, I'm still trying to figure it out. The TT didn't end up working as well for us as the EZ detangling brush (which I, thankfully, found again). But here's a few things I have learned.
    • I dry detangle her hair with oil because as soon as water touches her hair it gets really matted. When I do have to get her hair wet, I just manipulate it as little as possible.
    • I detangle in as many sections as I need to and take a lot of time because her hair is really tangle prone and she's very tender-headed, just like me.
    • I'm sure there's a better way but I've just embraced detangling her hair every other day.
    • I don't know how long your daughter's hair is but keeping it stretched really helped me. When Kay's hair was only 4-6 inches, rope twists would stay in her hair, 4-8 of them. Now I do 3 strand braids.

I haven't tried a flexi sport because I'm waiting for all her hair to fit in one so i don't have to buy two or three.
I so don't have all the answers but if I'm forgetting anything, I did write about my experience up to now in a few blog posts. And as I'm still experimenting, I'll keep posting as long as I remember.
