How do you feel when people touch your hair?

My hair used to be almost tailbone length, so the kids I worked with loved to play with it. I would have them wash their hands first, but other than that I was fine with it. I also really love kids, so that might have had a big part.

For adults, I can't stand it unless they are my parent/partner/hair stylist. It would make me feel like I was in a petting zoo.

Ask first, plain and simple. And especially because of COVID my germaphobia is at an all-time high and I will absolutely be taking these fears to the grave, so clean hands are REQUIRED.
Anyone who dares touch ANY part of me without asking first is going to get a mouthful!! And I'm a hugger, I'll hug just about anyone, given they freaking ask first!!!

Throughout my whole life, people have decided to touch my hair without asking. I have curly hair that is usually a bit long. Strangers in public used to compliment and always grab my hair. It’s kind of weird and unsettling, but I’ve never really complained. Maybe that’s why I unconsciously tie my hair back before going out now

I totally understand.
I love the sensation when someone touch my hair. Unfortunately, I also don't like being touched (it makes me dissociate, I don't know how to manage that

) and I'm germophobic so it's extremely rare when someone touch it

Whenever I've gotten my hair to dry at its curliest, classmates had wanted to "boing" the curls. Once, by one person might be okay, but more than that and it just starts turning back into frizz. If it's not set all nice and curled I don't mind as much. Regardless, I have to feel close to the person to not mind, and there has to be situational or ongoing consent involved. I don't think I'd ever want a stranger handling my hair. I haven't always even liked hairdressers handling it.

I don't like people touching my hair. Years ago I didn't mind but people would randomly yank my curls. Sometimes they would also use both hands to roughly "pet" me like an animal. That's extremely unpleasant. Because of those experiences, I don't let people touch my hair anymore.
