I comb my hair either sitting down or lying down (if on the very edge of a bed) with it upside down in front of my face. It's... somewhere past waist (tomorrow's measure day), and I put a satin scarf on the ground in front of it so that the ends don't touch the carpet. It feels really awkward to do it standing up.

I usually detangle my hair while I'm standing, that too outside my house as I lose lots of hair.

I always detangled in the shower. I guess it's normal... so I stand up from the beginning.
now my hair has reached beyond my but, I can't imagine detangling my mane in another place than my shower

I first did this poll when my hair was shorter than BSL! Time for an update - I always detangle standing up, in front of the mirror.

I usually sit down in front of my mirror and detangle there. mostly because my cat likes to sit in my lap.

This poll just sucked up 20 minutes of my life. I really should be doing something else! Who knew this would be so interesting. I detangle (carefully!!) in the shower after I shampoo, so, standing up. But I also take it down and detangle it most nights while sitting on the couch, run my fingers through it, gently pull out any knots, and clean up the hair that's shed during the day, before I braid it for the night. I have a little ceramic crock on the end table where I put the strays that come out, so they don't end up stuck to the upholstery. It's just past BSL right now.

I do both, depending on the moment. My hair is hip length

Mine is waist length and detangling only takes a couple of minutes as my hair is straight and I use silicone (I'm guessing that's why it's never too knotty). So I detangle, standing in front of my mirror before I get dressed in the morning using a brush. Before I get dressed so that I don't get hair-fall on my clothes haha.
