Handling Inappropriate PMs

The primary goal of the moderator team is to make LHC a safe, friendly environment for our members. We keep an active watch over the threads on the board, but have no ability to view the Private Messages (PMs) that members send and receive. (Hence, the term “Private” .) Therefore, members can sometimes receive messages from other members that make them uncomfortable.
What should you do if you receive message(s) that makes you uncomfortable?
We recommend you do either or both of the following:
1. Respond to the sender and tell the person to leave you alone. Be firm! After all, everyone’s idea of what is appropriate and what is not appropriate is different. The sender is not a mind reader and may just want to be your friend.
2. Send copies of the PMs to a moderator. The moderator team will discuss your situation and will then make a decision on an appropriate course of action. We cannot help you if you don't let us know what is happening. Don't feel like you are bothering us or don't want to make trouble. We are here to help you.
