The other thing to remember is that soapnuts are rarely used on their own traditionally.
Aritha is used on pre oiled hair and used in combination with other plants/herbs, all of which can alter side effects.
I would, given your research, not recommend soapnuts as a shampoo, during pregnancy, used on its own.

Oh man, I'm glad the two of you are around... I just washed last night with the soapnut liquid, and I will definitely be quitting that immediately! (I'm just over 6 months pregnant) I have been having braxton-hicks contractions more often than normal for how far along I am, so I wonder if that has something to do with it. I do have to take into consideration that I look alot further along this time that I did with my two other boys.
Now I just have to figure out what to do with the rest of the liquid I have made up. It has tea tree eo and sweet orange eo in it, otherwise I'd use it for dishes or something. I may just have to dump it...I'm sad though, as I finally got my hair to cooperate (for the most part) with soapnuts. Oh well, I'll just have to place that Dairy Whip order a little sooner.
There is also this information on tea tree oil from the other thread
".... Not enough scientific information is available to recommend tea tree oil during pregnancy or breastfeeding."

and I found this on tea tree oil, topical. 2005
"Tea tree oil is not recommended for use during pregnancy. "

I would not worry to much at this point. Just keep getting checked out.
Natural products are great but you need to keep researching everything and stay up to date. There are many reasons as to why you may have been having the contractions. What you were doing may or may not have contributed. It is better to avoid certain things though, IMO, that can contribute possibly.
I'm sure everything will be OK! Didn't mean to upset you! :-) Hopefully the Indian ladies here will get back to me and confirm that Indian ladies still use aritha when pregnant.
I use soapnut liquid for dishwashing, it works very well, so you can just use it for that too.
Regardless of other individual reponses to soapnuts, I would play it safe and avoid them, since you are experiencing problems, and here is a partial list of essential oils (tea tree oil is not on this list) to avoid as well.
